Just bought a Pearl White SE 5speed!

I'm new to the Org but I've been learning a ton since I registered. I've had a 96' Infiniti I30 for about 3 years now and just added a 97' Nissan Maxima SE 5speed to the family.

Bought it with 2" drop on matrix springs, Xenon headlights, new clutch, new flywheel, new ignition coils, Short Ram Intake, 7" double din touch screen DVD player.

There is some minor damage to the hood so I'll be replacing it with a carbon fiber hood as it's first upgrade. Huge list of upgrades to be added in the future as well.

Nice addition, cars pretty clean, nice interior. Missing the fogs, brackets and stalks there.
+1 on the 5 spd, not with the weird shifter boot tho. What wheels are those?

Theres a couple guys selling black armrests in the 4th gen classifieds. One in NJ selling random parts and one in CA selling an armrest cover. Check it out...

Lol yeah the women left her purse on the passenger side. I didn't realize it until after the pictures were taken.

I'm not sure what happened to the fogs. The previous owner bought it with them missing as well. I plan to buy some replacements in the future.

This is the only bad thing I can think of about this car. It's pushing 250k miles But I get the feeling 90% of them are highway miles. Honestly it runs better then my I30 with 70k more miles on it. No engine knocks, No misfires or anything.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I've already done a few things to it that I"ll be posting later.

Debadged, buffed and waxed the Max yesterday. Detailed Engine bay (it needed it badly)

Then took it for a canyon cruse.

Very nice! Congrats!
Love 4th gen SE and 5 speeds!
Is that a pearl white 97 SE?
I have a 95 pearl white gle and always wanted to get a pearl white 4th gen SE to add to my collection.
Hopefully in the near future.
Enjoy!

Here is a few pics of the engine bay

Also I was going to ask what this thing was. I noticed my 96 I30 doesn't have it.

This is a 1997 Pearl White Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed From what I understand they are kinda rare to find as good as condition as mine.

Mine also has all the extra options: Black Leather, duel heated and power front seats, Bose Stereo, Sunroof, Spoiler, foglamps (wired but lamps are missing) 5 Speed Manual transmission. All the other SE's I've found normally don't come with all the above options.

I'll have to do some reading on the EVAP purge valve as I'm not familiar with it.

Heated seats are a must have in Salt Lake City, UT.

Thank you. It wasn't the dirtiest engine bay I've cleaned but it was still pretty dirty. I use to detail cars professionally. I learned a lot of "tricks of the trade" that have become quite useful to my personal vehicles.

Congratz on the purchase! Looks very clean inside and out. The previous owner probably modded the seats to be heated.

I'll have to keep this in mind just in case I have problems in the future with the EVAP. Thanks for the heads up.

Millage is high. Almost 250k... Although.. I'm 100% most of it was highway millage. It runs better then my I30 with 70k more miles. I'll swap it to a VQ35 when the motor finally does give.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't modded. Heated seats are full stock OEM installment. Unless a previous owner worked for Nissan or is a Modding professional I doubt it was put in aftermarket.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I'm probably installing an oil catch tomorrow. I'll post pics later.

250k is nothing for this car, I say that because mine has 218k and she runs good. A 3.5 conversion huh? well you may have to wait a few years before the engine gives out. I think your "want" will give in before the engine gives out.
My vehicle did come with the owners manual but wish the actual print out of what it was purchased for and all the optional equipment was included. I just like having that around to look at over and over again. Before I bought the vehicle I noticed a dealer pic of the engine bay and saw a sticker that stated "trophy nissan". Luckily that is a dealer here in Mesquite TX. I called their service dept and the guy was able to pull up the maintenance records using the VIN. He was reading off stuff that was done on the car and he said something that was the deal breaker/or maker. He said "it looks like every time the car has an issue the previous owner would have it repaired here at our shop." I love hearing that, it is music to my ears.

Did you buy it from the original owner or friend of the family? She looks well taken care of.

I have yet to ruin an engine bay from detailing it but I've had a few friends damage their own. Gotta avoid the intake, sensors, and distributor (which our cars don't have).

I did a carfax report and 3 owners came up. I couldn't find any service records except what the guy had that I bought it from. He had lube receipts as well as parts and other things he'd also bought. I found out yesterday that it's sitting on 4 KYB performance shocks. They were installed about 4 months before I bought it too.

Whoever owned my car in the past, including the last owner have all taken amazing care of the vehicle. It runs amazingly.

Nice buy dude. And 250 is not a "lot". I'm at 254k and still goig very very strong. Are your turnsignal lights on constantly and running independently?

I know these engines can go a long time. My mother sold a 96' GLE with over 300k on it. The lights were rewired when I bought it.

The side markers are now the blinkers and the front markers are now always on with park/headlights. Honestly I kinda like it. Not many of the Maxima's around here have lights wired like that so I get to stand out from the others

I'm still trying to figure out what the exhaust system is. It's been repalced from the Cat to the bumper. My buddy says it's a GREEDY but isn't 100% sure. It has a good sound to it. Not rice-a-roni but has a deep rumble on downshifts and a loud growl and blare at high RPM. It also doesn't have that drown sound when you are cruising on the highway like you get from all the Honda's.

I know for fact it isn't a Cattman. I wish.... I'll post a pic of it to see if you guys have any idea what it could be. It is huge with a 4 inch tip.
