Need help from people with mild suspension drop....

A little while back i installed KYB GR2s with Ksport springs on the front and rear....i also installed new strut mounts, bearings, bushings and bumpstops....the front is quiet and rides fine but the rear rattles and it gets worse, even bottoming out with more weight in the back even as little as one person...now i dont think the bumpstops are installed correctly, when i put them on i think they were squeezed below the notch on the strut...after doing the research today, im about 70% sure theyre supposed to sit on top of the notch.

Im wondering if they were supposed to be trimmed down so they arent pushed down below the notch....if anyone has pics id be great too....i love visual aids....

Rattle in the rear tells me you have the shock/spring assembled wrong.
It should be silent. You've most likely got a washer in the wrong place.

Make sure the springs aren't installed upside down. When I installed my Ksport springs, the printed words were upside down, when correctly installed, both front and rear.

Good luck.

you sure the struts not blown. U def shouldnt be bottoming out with that setup. KYB has their own bumpstop, shd have been compatible.

Plus GR2 are not performance upgrades. Go on their website, KYB calls them OEM replacements. U prolly blew them out when u lowered.

How could I have blown them out when lowered? Plenty of people have the gr2/ksport setup and don't blow rear struts within 500mi.....

My question is about the bumpstop placement...above or below the notch and if they need to b trimmed.....if I'm using oem bumpstops in the rear.....ill also check the springs.

Simple: the struts arent designed to handle a 2" drop.

As stated, go on the KYB website. GR2 are replacement struts. THey are not performance struts.

That being sd, i dont think the struts are blown but if u hear noises u def got a problem.

Dustboots/bumpstops dont stop bottoming out, they only keep dirt/debris from gettin into the strut. If they arent cut short enough or improperly installed then there is a possiibility that the could be rubbing or bumping causing noise.

U prolly jus need to adjust the bumpstops but that means removing the strut again man.

The OEM bump stop sits on the notch sort of level on it. Then comes the larger disk, the small bushing, mount, another bushing, washer and nut.
The large disk also sits on the nub, level with the OEM bump stop.

LOL @ Ksports and mild drop! Bottoming out? Of course, they are on the bumpstops while stactic. 2.2f/2.0r is all we have for travel period.

Sounds like you're having the same problem I had when I did my drop. I reassembled the rears incorrect but came across this with the help of another member.

I have a 2.2F/2.0R drop on front Nissan OEM and rear KYBGR2s both not blown and the rear sits way higher... ebven after I cut the a coil and a half off the rear.

The shorter, round bump stop goes on top.
