Auto Transmission swap

Alright guys I have a 96 maxima and I'm thinking about swapping to a newer transmission. I'm looking at a 2000 or a 2001, could it be possible to put one in from a 02?? Also would i need to change out the TCM??

Thanks

im not too sure what exactly you wd need but i will take a stab at it...

You will need fromt the donor car:

tranny
torque converter
flywheel
drive axels
vehicle speed sensor
TCM

i dont think the TCM will plug in to our harness... if the ECU's are different i would bet the TCM's are too... Plus i dont believe the flywheel bolts up to our cars either. your going to have to figure that part out. kinda like the 6spd swap guys and have one machined...

if anything id say just get the i30t vlsd auto trans and rebuild it... call it a day...

EDIT: BTW, your max is sexy as hell! engine shots! i wanna see the intake!

i dont think youd want to try the ecu swap... lots of rewiring! different types of plugs altogether. id say stick with the simple stuff like the i30t and maybe a shift kit? theres probably lots involved to changing the trans, specially in the autos... or so id think...

someone stop me if im just talken out muh ****!

I wish we could change the auto shifter for our cars, I prefer the one from the 5th and 5.5 gen maxs..
