Top-of-the-line SE

I was just wondering how rare, and if anyone had one, a fully loaded (all packages, BOSE, ABS) 97-99 5-speed SE is.

If you live in Canada, all of the SE models come fully loaded with every option, nothing has to be added. The heated seat buttons can be found inbetween the center cup holders and the center storage compartment.

I am pretty sure I have all the options in my 97 SE. My butt gets warm and all 13 cds keep me occupied while the leather massages my back and the seats are powered into position and well you get the idea. Its kinda nice to have all these goodies. I almost bought a stripped GLE and never regret my decision to wait till the next car for sale. peace: e3

I almost got one. They were selling a 98 SE fully loaded with 22k miles, but the dealer wouldn't give it to me for $18k, but they were willing to deal on a 99 barebone SE and that's the one I got. Both cars were 5spd.

true. it costs more to have an auto tranny. so then my car would be one of the few top of the line cars...

I have a '99 SE Limited. Great car...all the goodies available in '99. Mine may be rare in that the paint appears to be the dark green first used on the 2000 model. I think its called Sherwood Green. I've never seen another 99 that color although the dealer had two that color at the end of '99.

Lets start an SE Limited club...

What do you guys think? We'll start a club. "The SE-L club." All of us Limited edition max owners should put "Member of the SE-L Club" in our sigs.

The SE-L has floor mats, badging on the seats, exterior badging, titanium color gauges and last but not least better looking (in my opinion) wheels. Mine is a sherwood green loaded 5spd. I have seen some 99SE-L's that are not loaded. You would think that if they use the term Limited it would be loaded. Basically, the "Limited" moniker is just a gimmick.

look at my sig...now you guys can do the same....i wanted to start an se-l club but peopel thought it was ghey, i wish my car was a 5 spd...but auto instead, then again give me some time and it too will be a 5 spd....i was actually thinking about selling my car and getting a 5 spd like 97 or 98 but i love my car too much, fully loaded and the perfect color...so i will be keeping it and doing the conversion after i get more $ or destroy this tranny...

Craig: I wish I had one.

All others: you paid more to go slow?
True...top-of-the-line would include auto...but that's why I noted my exception.

1997 Pearl White SE, leather, 5-speed fully loaded. 40,000 miles. Took me 3 months to find it. I wouldn't settle for the auto. I almost gave up and decided to buy different car. My brother has the exact same car as me but in black, 5-speed also.

If you go by rarity, the 5 spd is rarer than the auto. So the 5 spd is top of the line.
But I wouldn't be caught paying for that cheap leather either. No advantage. Gets cold in the winter, hot in the summer. Cloth is comfortable year round. And leather cost more to replace if it's ever damaged. Keep your leather and your old man's automagic. I got just what I want with my bare bones SE Limited. The Limited, by the way, is the badge that all the SE's got in late January or late February of '99. Because it was the end of the production run for the 4th gen.

Yummy.

I'm afraid I'll end up looking for awhile too, but if you're going to spend the time and $$ in/on the a car you might as well try to get the one you truly want.

Yes, I like your logic - 5-speed IS top-of-the-line.

Ruus would contest to the cheapness of Maxima leather; to him, BMW leather is the one that is crap. I can tolerate cold leather...if I have heated seats of course. I'm confident I could put the effort into mainitaining the leather....and since it is cheap it'll need it.
Oh well..we'll see.

I would rather save all of my alternators current for the amps in the trunk. Rather than devoting even a couple to my ***. If that needs extra insulation I can get triple cheese on my pizza!

All I wanted was the pearl-white SE with 5speed and sunroof, but after months of searching I had to settle for green. Oh well.
At least it has everything except cold-weather package.

I have leather and I agree the quality isn't too good. My '70 Coupe De Ville had what I thought was great leather. It was much softer. But, I think the leather "seating surfaces" (not all leather) add to the appearance of my Max. I have heated seats and I find them useless because by the time the seat gets warm the car is already warm from the heater. The heated outside mirrors that are also part of the CW package are useful.

Just got home from a 12 hour, non-stop [well, almost] road trip in my 99 SE Limited. Cruised at 70 to 80mph all the way. What a car to drive. I'm hardly fatigued! Even with the cold weather I got about 26mpg. By the way, I just remembered that when I tried to buy a Sherwood Green touch-up paint they had to order it. Said it was a year 2000 color. Got my car in the Fall of 99.

I ordered my '98 SE w/o leather or BOSE through a wholesaler.

BlkCat,
I like that grill. Nicer than the valence available at custommaxima. Where did you find it? Or did you make it yourself?
