I'M PO'd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, your getting robbed. Ive had mutliple windsheilds replaced and they were all around 125.00 installed. They even came to me to do it. Our cars are so old, and the glass is pretty common for them to get it whouldnt be that expensive. Many glass compaines will try and feed you a line about chea pchina glass etc. but if you look at the windsheild they have the brands on them and most of them come from the same manufactures. I have a friend who works in the glass business and hes told me all the BS that companies try and pull. I even called around to compare his prices and he was on point with what others were charging.
A few years back then wind really picked up and flipped my hood back at a show cracking it in the exact same spot as yours. right in that corner and the point of contact is just below the corner of the hood.

I got my glass done for 150. Professional.
That number u was quoted, shark man, is pretty high if u ask me.
Sounds like u had an interesting night tho, if the windshield got smashed and ppl went to jail.
Ehhh shyt happens
I cracked my windshield in the same spot last June when I tried to carelessly remove the hood by myself. I felt it would be easier to remove the plenum and replace the valve cover gaskets with the hood removed. Safelite came the next day to install a new windshield that my insurance covered.

Also, insurance wouldnt cover it. I have liability, it doesnt cover vandalism
sounds like something i did when i was 18 or soo left a hammer in the sill of the hood slammed it closed BAM crunch window = done did on another note if it just soo happens it was someone else i can say i feel your pain my father inlaw and i got into it a few weeks back he said i scratched his truck .. why idk captin morgan told him so, the guy runs down the driveway and feild goals my driver side door ..!!
my front passenger side window was replaced by safelite becuause of some douche that tried to steal my car. talk about an epic fail. anyways, 2 years later, the rear clip (or whatever its called) and window are no longer attached so when i roll down my window, the back stays up for a few seconds until the front pulls it down. also, when i close the door, you can hear that the window is loose.
all the other windows on my maxima are original and i have never had a single problem with any of them
long story short $331 seems like a lot. i do have free glass repair with my insurance, though...
What does the dealer charge?

i agree with ggenuis, it looks like the corner of the hood hit it. from the pics, it looks like where the impact happened is such a hard spot to get at (unless, of course, you hood is removed) even on the inside. but im sure the angle of the pic is leading me to believe otherwise.
If someone wanted to break your windshield why would they break it in such a hard to reach corner? It just makes zero sense. IF it was a vandal they would have had to use a tool and a hammer to put a break into that spot.
A vandal would just throw a rock right into the center of the windshield or wack it with a bat.

That's not possible at all with hood struts. The hood only goes so far up. Now, if you didn't have hood struts, both sides would spider crack like that. That damage was definitely done on purpose.
That sucks man.. Reminds me when I had the 5th gen.. I was at a party with some friends, and they were doing some stupid crap outside mooning people and all I see is people start running into the house.. Come out later that night to find that my spoiler was smashed in. :P
i just got mine replaced today for $176. did it in my parking lot and took em 45 mins.

I know exactly who did it, this wasnt just an act of vandalism. If you read the first post about someone going to jail you would understand that. Also, when the safelife guy came out he said there was no way it was my hood. He said if it was my hood the glass would have been "lifted up" at the point of impact, not pushed down. Coupled with the dent on my fender, and the dent on the metal strip on the A pillar he said no doubt someone hit this
In the 15 years Ive owned my car Ive gone through three windsheilds. All were done my a mobile service and were right around 125.00. That was labor and glass.
