Do you ever get......
people who talk to you about your car (strangers, friends) and say why do you put so much money and time into that car when you can just buy a nicer car? I've gotten that a lot lately and haven't know what to respond with lol. Most of the time I just laugh. What do you guys say?

I just compare their car to mine. First off, I tell them that I can still do eveything myself and it is very low maintenance. Their newer car is all computerized and most jobs need to go back to the dealer and spend hundreds. Plus, I get them everytime with my 315K on original engine and tranny...

Just tell them it's a hobby of yours, and a maxima is a different car, you dont want to go with the car everyone is going for, it's unique and original. Much better because it's less common.

maxima is one of the most common cars out there, hell i see at least 10 a day and mostly 4th and 5th gens at that. unfortunaley their all sunlit sand or black/white. nothing as pretty as my bm1 blue baby!!!!

I get this all the time from my co-workers. They gave it a nick name, Money Pit/Lemon.
I recently told them that my 14 year old car can out handle their cars and that it has a nav, dvd, ipod and blue tooth.
They still laughed and continued to call my baby, Money Pit/Lemon.

I used to get that allll the time when I had my 4th gen. The #1 question was "why do all that to a maxima bro?". And i would always respond with "when was the last time you saw a clean done up 4th gen?" and it was always the same response from them "NEVER". self pwnage lol

I've been asked why I've put so much money and work into my car lately, apparently some think it's too old to be putting so much money and effort into vs just saving up and buying a newer car with the money.
I simply respond with: "the more I do to my car, the more it does to me in return, and if you can't understand that you've just never experienced a Maxima"
I do love, however, when those same people try to pull up next to me and act fast in their newer cars only to proceed to remain in my rear view until I have to come to a stop.

I tell them the amount of money it will take for me to fix up my car will still be less than buying a new car, and me being a student, I don't need a car payment. Now if they want to buy me a new car, then I'll start car shopping lol

my car is clean, all stock looking on the outside for now just have apexi exhaust and d2 coilovers. Not really beat up on the outside at all for a 13 year old car.

I prefer black or white Maximas and I think he was talking more along the lines of a "done up' Maxima. True you see them pretty often, but they're usually either all beat up, or driven by some old lady or dude.. To see a nice clean 4th gen sitting on the ground with tasteful mods is not something you see crashing every neighborhood Dub/Civic meet.
But when that does happen, people don't really know what to think. They either say 'Why a Maxima?' just because they're taught to think of Civics or GTI's as the nice car, because that's what everyone always goes for. Or they give you props for creating a beautiful machine that nobody else had the vision to attempt, because their "tuner vision" doesn't see anything on the road over 2 liters.

Yeah, snowman said it, i think you missed the part of putting money into the maxima, i see so many maxima's every day, but maxima's with stuff done to them, VERY rarely. Therefore more common to put money into. I prefer black and white maxima's also, they look much better worked.

I just explain to people im not a typical "punk kid" even though im 26 and that i prefer to have a car that ahs some class and style and a motor to back it rather than a tunacan on wheels...
And maxride....you think youre color is rare? Try owning a LAKESHORE BLUE 99 SEL

i used to say the same thing about maximas, theyre seen as a 4 door family car, then i bought a 99 max with 5 speed, you have to have a max to understand the power reliabilty handling and good gas mileage. love my max

Love em, too. this is my second one... as UI posted in another post, I took it in for an alignment the other day, and the tech made the comment that the car runs awesome... and that it pulled slightly to the right - yeah, under hard acceleration... and JUST slightly....
