I'm starting to categorize painting calipers as ricey. I'll probably just upgrade my brake system instead of "faking" I have Brembos by painting them "Brembo" yellow/bronze/red which this thread just confirmed.

IDK??? When you paint the calipers it keeps them from getting rusty and are easier to clean. I'm not too convinced that it's "Ricey". Now giant spoilers that look like formula one style. That Ricey... Or putting Brembo stickers on non Brembo calipers... Ricey lol

Well from the sounds of it half the ppl that are painting them are going for a "Brembo" look, Brembo look with no brembo=formula one spoiler with no formula one car.

I'm with the guy who painted them black it does the purpose without the "bremboness"

Agreed. But paint is one thing. Saying you have what you don't is another?? I might fall into the Ricey category then. I have Brembo rotors, SS brake lines but stock calipers. I painted them red because it matches my engine bay and I like red??? So am I a ricer??

If you reread my original post I stated I'm starting to categorize it as ricey becuase of ppls thoughts of I'm painting mine "brembo" color. When you hear stuff like that you start to think "hey whats the real motive behind the painting of the calipers"? I for one was going to paint mine to add some flavor to the ugliness behind the wheel and for the same reasons you painted yours, not to "act" like I have brembos. So I agree with you as well.

Now to answer your ricer question, you're from brooklyn of course your a ricer J/K.

Naw made it worse haha but who am I kidding half of Chicago is either ricers or donks and a mixture of the two, yes a mixture only here that I've seen cars with big ricey spoilers and weak ugly chrome donk rims on the same car.

never thought about power coating. Both 240sx I owned had painted calipers. Held up to the heat and elements just fine.

In no way shape or form did I paint them to "look" like Brembro's. Have you ever seen a Brembo caliper up close? It's at least twice the size of the stock caliper. Paint or no paint it's impossible to make my tiny stock caliper look like a Brembo caliper.

99% of my car is stock and is far from a rice. I chose a color I thought wouldn't attract tons of attention, but up close you'd notice it as a fine detail or small touch to the car. It protects against rust, looks great and overall I'm happy with it.

I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to others who wanted to paint theirs "Brembo" red/yellow, etc. Did you not read all my full responses not one was directed at you. It just tells you a persons motive at doing something when they reference something that its not, saying brembo red is like saying audi leds, red and leds by itself is fine but adding the name of a superior brand shows the intention of faking or whatever you may call it.

To you I already gave a and you actually gave me a good color that would contrast nicely with the color of my car (yes I may be biting your style)

After it was dry removed the masking and replaced the wheel and let the car sit over night (about 12hours) before driving it.
Thats exactly how I painted mine, came out great. I did use VHT red but it it goes well with my black wheels so its all good.

Look like the Brembo color. I wonder if it's bad if I paint my Wilwoods this color.

Should have taken the cailpers apart to paint them. So your hardware and pads don't get painted also. Just my two cents

I never even thought of painting the calipers to be ricey. All you are doing is getting rid of the ugly rusty looking caliper look, to a nice gloss finish color of your liking. There is nothing "rice" about that at all. As a matter of a fact, I think this is a must to anyone adding new wheels to their Max. If you don't paint your calipers its like wearing old funky socks with new shoes.

You want to paint the calipers white? Would look good but would be difficult to keep clean all the time. You'd also wan't to use the same pearl white as the car or it would look funny with 2 different whites. Unless they were a really close match in color.

Nobody said anything about painting them to match fogs was ricey. We thought it would be ricey if you painted them with the intention of making them look like Brembo's or any other performance brake caliper by painting the logo on the side of the caliper.

I thought the same thing, but after doing some research before starting the project I read that it's a lot less work to mask and paint rather then take everything off and paint. I did a fairly good job of masking. Brakes are still functioning exactly how they were before painting. As long as you mask properly and do light coats I don't see any harm in painting them while on the car.

ya know...i'm fairly new to the ORG, and i don't really have that much experience, but....if i was modding something on my car to replicate something that should indicate it was there when it obviously isn't...i think that'd fall into a rice-pot.

Red looks good I'm just tired of seeing it. Mostly on Honda's. You should post a pic of them on your sexy Maxima.

Just for the record I didn't mean painting calipers is "ricey" but saying your painting them to look like brembos is a different story. A mod can clean up the thread with that discussion if need be.

I'll actually be painting mine soon since I bought the paint to do my wifes car... the color is a secret

Is it wrong if I want to paint my Wilwoods the same color as the bronze Brembo's?

No joke though, I was going to paint my Z32's the same color, for some weird reason I like the way it looks.

There's a local WV2 Z33 w/ "stock" Brembo's + bronze and I like it.

Two sins there:

1.) Even though my car is WV2, it's not a Z33
2.) I have 4 POT Wilwoods, not Brembos ..
3.) Profit?
