BAD TPS?? IS IT ADJUSTABLE?
BAD TPS?? IS IT ADJUSTABLE?
Since I had 4th Gen Max in '05 it shifted hard into the 2nd gear when at regular throttle. I have an automatic. If I start throttling hard from 0mph tho theres much less of a hard shift. And by hard shift I mean it feels like the engine is bucking, like the cars gettin hit by something. Sometimes i even try and let off the throttle as Im approaching the height of the gear to ease the bump. No other gear has a hard shift. Only the shift into 2nd gear.
I compared a friend('99 Max) and my TPSs, they are at different heights (1/2" difference) on the throttle body. It appears to be adjustable. So Im wondering CAN THis thing be adjusted?? Can I Lower it a bit or something and try and see if it fixes the problem?
I did take out 1 of the 2 plugs that goes into it and saw no change in performance. When i took out the other the car became practically un drive able.
reference TPS threads below couldnt answer my question.

Damn 58 views and no comment??? No one has any info on this?? I have the FSM and it doesnt say anything about the FSM being adjustable. I figured if its bad it just needs a replacement. But I dont know if the Throttle Position Sensor is the Cause of the problem yet.
Yes, it's adjustable. You just loosen the screws and rotate it to match the specs in the FSM EC-133. And here's the new improved method: http://www.lyberty.com/car/Maxima_A3...NTB99-053b.pdf.
But offhand, I'd say it's more likely to be your drop resistor.
