intake air temp sensor/rough idle/stalling

Sup yall, been a while. Anyhow I'm throwing code 0401 which reads off as intake air temperature sensor. I'm a dumbass and was using search wrong and thought it was the MAF :P Anyhow is there anyway to clean the IAT or am I stuck getting a new one?
Thanks

You may be able to clean the contacts if they are corroded. Either way you should test the sensor as outlined in the FSM before buying a new one.

Also, a bad IAT sensor should not cause your engine to idle rough and stall like the title of your thread suggests.

EDIT:

AJM is right. Check the harness and make sure its not corroded or burned out.

Thanks for the suggestions. Checked for corrosion and all that, everything looks good. Gonna try testing the sensor this weekend. As far as it stalling and idling rough, any ideas? I'm at a loss since theres no other codes being thrown...

Just changed the IATS and everything was fine driving around town today until I pulled into the gas station, idle dropped to 500 when I let off the gas then slowly plummeted to a stall. Already cleaned the MAF and only code I get is the stupid rear heated o2 sensor. Limited financially atm so trying to NOT take it in to a mechanic, anyone have any ideas what else I could try? Thanks in advance!

Look for a source of unmetered air into the intake manifold. Disconnected or deteriorated vacuum hoses, blowby hoses, leaky gasket, etc. Particularly if you or anybody else has been doing surgery in the engine bay.

Or you could be off in the other direction, so make sure the idle air control valve is clean and working.

Pull each spark plug and check each one.

I just tore down and cleaned my TB and IAC valve. It was pretty gunky. You might think about doing that if you haven't in a while or ever. Also, check those hoses like Tappman said. Particularly from the air intake that leads to the TB to the IAC valve

Intake Air Temp Sensor, IATS sensor

Where did you buy YOUR IATS sensor for the maxima?
I have not been using this sensor for over 2 years now.
Sensor was over $100 I had a fix for $2 but I have to be on top of this. especially when seasons change and temps change.

So Where did you buy the INtak Air Temp Sensor?
and How much did you pay for it?

Thank you.
