Hi! I just bought my '97 SE 5sp.(dk. green) this week and love it! It's loaded with leather, power everything, 16" alloys, ect. I'm selling my truck that I put alot of time and money into, but I'm excited to begin work on my car. Just wanted to say howdy and see what everyone would recommend for the first upgrades on a completely stock '97.

Um, do you want to rice it out, or go for performance? Just speaking for myself, I prefer to leave my exterior looking as stock as possible. This makes it a nice, stealthy urban assault vehicle... It's all a matter of taste, yes?

I'd go after it like this:

-Rear sway bar
-Front strut tower brace
-cold air intake --or popcharger
-y-pipe
-catback exhaust system w/ b-pipe
-upgraded struts and lowering springs
-upgraded tires, 225/50/16 ZR
-under-drive pulley
-heavy-duty clutch

Now go for the "auto makeover" stuff, if you still want to. Have fun with it.

Hey, another UT member! I think we are planning on having a meet sometime in the near future, but no firm plans yet. Welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm not into ricing it out. I don't believe stickers add hp. I want something fast, clean, and sharp. First up is window tint, then something in the handling or power dept. Bullseye - that list gives me a good start. Are there many other Utahns out there? I'd like to meet some other enthusists in the area.

FSTB and RSB will greatly improve the handling, and they aren't that much compared to the other mods.

FSTB - anywhere from $40-80 for generic version (they all do the same but stillens looks nicer) or stillen $200 (about)
RSB - addco..$120 (look at older group deal posts) or Stillen...$250 (but adjustable)

Check the West Coast forum for a couple of posts by Utah members. I think there are a few in SLC. BTW, if you ever get to Las Vegas, they have the best prices on window tinting you'll ever see, and they'll do them as dark as you want. I got my whole car done for $100, and it was a top quality job. Plus, I was able to get them darker than any shop here would do and still give me a receipt.
