wats da problem

Wats up members. I just bought a 97 and da owner said it overheated and da motor locked up. How would I know if its an easy fix or a motor swap? Any ideas is a plus

Second, have you attempted to look at anything? With no information we can't tell you what's wrong or what may be wrong

In order for an engine to lock up due to it overheating, it has to run for a while that way, and in the process, blew a head gasket and probably hydrolocked the engine. Unless you get the car for dirt cheap and plan on replacing the engine, I wouldn't bother with it.

If its locked up then you might as well swap in a motor.

You would be insane to tear down that old motor and try to rebuild it...Just get a new VQ30 they are cheap!
