Radio or speakers?

Hey you all!
I still have my factory radio in my 97 max. Recently, I have noticed that the speakers seem to go in and out. The radio screen is out so it doesn't light up anymore and I can't control the volume, either. I'm wondering if it is the radio or speakers that could be the problem? Is there a way to check?

Well if your radio screen is out and doesn't light up, and your volume control no longer works, I would say it's the radio. Time to upgrade

I'll second the radio as the problem. Speakers don't change volume by themselves, they distort the sound when they go bad.
