Hi,the fog light on the passenger side was out,so purchased a new one and installed it still doesn't work. Went back to advance and employee said the bulb is good so is the one I took out. Has anyone had this problem? Please help if you can thanks.

I believe the foglights are on a fuse. Check under the hood and under your dash I don't recall exactly which location it's in.

Thanks I located the fuse box under the hood. I opened it and found nothing that looks like a fuse under the dashboard. I took the one out for the foglights. Looks like a square with pronges that plug into the bottom of the box. Do I replace that? Please help if you can.

The little box that looks like one of those "chiclet" pieces of gum with the two prongs IS the fuse.

The value of it depends on the color. If you follow the two prongs you should be able to see where they run through the "chiclet". If you see a break in the path, the fuse is blown. You can also use a multimeter set to Ohms, just put one lead on one prong and the other on the other one (doesn't matter which is which). The resistance should be at or near 0.

edit - if your bulb and your fuse is good, i'd go back to the foglight housing and check the connection...perhaps you've got rust or corrosion that's preventing good contact.

Thanks, I changed one 15amp fuse under the hood. The foglight still doesn't work. Advance Auto said that a 1997 Maxima has two fuses is this true? Please help if you can.

Both fog lamps get power from the same fuse, 15amp fuse # 63 that is under the hood next to the battery and is labeled FR FOG on the cover. If one lamp lights, the fuse is good.

The 2nd fuse that Advance Auto mentioned is 15amp fuse # 53, also under the hood next to the battery and is labeled H/LAMP LH. This fuse sends power the the light switch on the steering column and the power from this fuse is used for several things, not just the fog lamps. But again, if one fog light works, this fuse is good.

Your problem may be that the lamp socket has corroded out or the wires going to the fog light housing may have gotten broken. I have seen more than a few threads where the socket had to be replaced.
