Why wont my engine light turn on?

I've been driving without my 3rd o2 sensor plugged in for a while now (as a result of recent exhaust work) and I have no cel. wtf? The light turns on when turning the ignition past the ACC position.. so the ODO bulb can't be burnt out.. thoughts?

This is a 1st someone wants a CEL, I would just be Happy that its not on, but on the exhaust o2s, some get lucky and dont get one and some do...how many miles have you driven on it since....

lol I dont "want" it but driving completely without the o2 sensor after the cat? If everyone could do it they would.. but no one does. some "trick" the ecu by installing a dummy resistor.. just not sure why the light isn't on. and to answer your question almost 100 miles driven and haven't noticed any major change in gas mileage.

Did you actually just start a thread complaining about how you want your CEL light to come on?

IIRC, that O2 just monitors the front two. You probably won't throw a CEL and you won't notice any change in gas mileage or performance.

Enjoy not having that little annoying light on as long as you can. We all hate when it decides to pop up.

100 miles isnt very much, just wait. The after cat sensor only monitors cat efficiency, it wont affect mileage or driveability. A resistor isn't enough, it requires an ever changing signal. Real simulators are a signal generator of sorts using a 9V battery.

Its a tricky light. Some people just don't get them for whatever reason. Probably a faulty 02 in the first place so when its gone nothing actually changes as far as ECU feedback. My o2 codes simply went away after a week or so and that was only after a y and a muffler install. Once new headers are made in a month or so, my amber friend will come back around I am sure

everything that was said above. if it ever comes on (usually anywhere between 100-150 miles), get two spark plug foulers (get the right mm size for the maxima) and drill one of them with a 1/2" bit, then screw the undrilled on in that one, then screw in the o2 and plug this whole thing in. the idea is to move the rear o2 farther away from the gases. you might need to drill the second one also, but with a smaller bit, if the tip of the o2 is hitting it.
or get a tune to disable the rear o2 altogether.

There are certain perameters that have to be met for the ECU to check the rear 02's for cat effieceincy. It will come on eventually. The spark plug non fouler trick does work well, but depending on your placement, it might not have the room. I did it on my last truck when I hollowed my cats, no more CEL
