Help with burping coolant!!
Hey org. I have searched but it seems like not a lot of people are having this problem. I got my new radiator installed on the 24th of this month. Ever since then, I've been having a real hard time getting all of my air out of my system. I overnighted the Spill Free Funnel from Amazon and I think I made progress last time I tried but it's still not perfect. I desperately need your guys' input cause I need this thing to be working like brand new this Friday.
All input is greatly appreciated beforehand!

the way i always do it is jack up the front end as high as you can.
remove the cap.
start the car and let it run for about 30 minutes.
have the interior on high and temperature on hot.
you should see all the air bubbles coming out of the filler neck.
when it is air free, it will blow nice and hot air through the vents and you will only see the coolant flow in the radiator but it will not be pushing it out.
you might need to top off coolant as you go.

I'm not sure, but isn't the system self-bleeding?
Just fill it up, then turn the car on (keep it parked) and let it run without the radiator cap...it'll self-burp iirc, then just add coolant to the radiator to the proper level once it burps itself out.
^ Again, not entirely sure on the above procedures, get confirmation before doing it this way.

I think some have the flushing procedure confused with the burping procedure. To flush it you add the flush solution and water to top it off then bring it up to the normal temp and run the heat for 10 or 15mins. To burp it all I have ever done is run it for awhile with the rad cap off, air will work its way out. I suppose you can run the heat too but once the thermo opens it should burp itself without the heat

If you got the funnel type I'm imagining just keep it nearly full at all times while running heater on high etc. as posted above otherwise I've seen air get re-introduced back into the system. Jack up the front and and rev it periodically and hopefully HVAC system blows strong heat! Sometimes it only takes 5-10 min once up to operating temp to purge but has taken over 30 min on occasion for whatever reason. Good luck

After a drain n fill or whatever and car wont blow heat this is how all techs I've seen go the route of raising front end while keeping coolant in the funnel on radiator, revving to burp system til no more gurgling. Hope this helps

There's a trick that I have done with cars that have their radiator caps on the expansion tanks instead of the radiator itself. This will require 2 people.
Warm up car with heater on
Person 1 holds engine rpm's at around 4K and holds it there
Person 2 opens up radiator cap
Person 2 adds coolant until no more can be safely added
Person 2 puts radiator cap back on
Person 1 can now take foot off the gas and lower engine speed.
Coolant now can be added to the overflow tank if needed.
This procedure may work the first time, if not then repeat.
Make sure caution is taken when the radiator cap is removed. Use towels/gloves to be safe just in case some steam/coolant does spray out when the cap is removed.

You can also gently squeeze the upper radiator hose with the cap open. Just be patient with it and add coolant.
Note: There is NO danger of coolant exploding all over you if youve opened the radiator when the car is not hot and then starting the car. The only danger comes to opening the radiator after everything has run for a while and there is pressure because of the hot coolant (expanding) in the radiator. (this may be common sense to many here on the org...but obviously we have some newbies here

remove the cap.
add fluid to the radiator until u cant add anymore.
Add fluid to the reservoir to the high mark.
have the interior on high and temperature on hot.
start the car and let it run for about 5-10 minutes.

This. Fixed.

Thank you guys so much! I've been working on it for the last few days and I feel like I'm making some progress. This time, I'll jack the front end up and go along with the spill free funnel.
I appreciate org!

TBH, all u really need to do is fill the reservoir with coolant. All the air trapped in the system should make its way back to be replaced by the coolant in the reservoir.
