Stumped on what should be here?

Ok, so I put some new wheels/tires on the other day and notice this bolt that has a nut on it but nothing else. I have searched through suspension and brake pictures trying to figure out what exactly it is for but have not found anything. Can anyone tell me what should be connected to this if anything?

That is called the wheel stop. When the wheel is turned all the way, that bolt hits the lca and prevents the wheel from going too far and maybe damaging the cv joint and/or the tire rubbing. You can see the mark on the end of it.

^ What he said, its not supposed to connect to anything but it does serve an important purpose.

Interesting... they were on all cars. I wonder if someone thought they could get a tighter turning circle by removing them.

Over extending the rack isn't a good idea. It's there for a reason.
