Picked up a 5 spd 1995 Maxima SE
Picked up a 5 spd 1995 Maxima SE (Updated pictures of engine bay)
Got it for 2400. It came with a cold air intake and a weird engine cover that I have never seen before on 4th gens. Needless to say, it's an amazing car. The luxury features = ahead of their time. The chassis feels so nimble yet sturdy. Extremely fast and handles beautifully. The 4th gen maxima is truly a subtle yet awesome ride.
Here's a pic of the car. I think the wheels are 5th gen rims.

I left the car at my dad's house, so I can't take actual pictures. But I just researched 95 Maxima SE engine on google and came across this, which is what it looks like. I don't think it's anything special as you guys are hoping haha.
You guys just look at the picture and didn't read my post haha! Unfortunately that's not my actual engine bay, I wish it was though. I just googled 95 maxima SE engine cover and pulled that up. My intake is one of the cheapo looking ones you can find at the autoparts store. Not sure what brand it is. It just looks something like this, but red and not blue.
Regardless, I'm still happy to have found a nice 4th gen. The interior is almost perfect and the AC blows ice cold. Runs like a charm. My next step is to get some of these taillights.
Thanks for being welcoming guys. This community looks great. The 4th gen Maxima reminds me of a 240sx and a 300zx fused into a fun, practical, and comfortable sports sedan. It has a front that resembles an S14, the power of a Z32, and not to mention this car has one of the nicest rear ends I've seen.

Let's say I do have a mevi intake manifold, what is the difference? Do I get better performance as compared to the more common one?
As you can see, I don't know much about cars. I am eager to learn more by reading up on things, especially on this forum.
You guys are making me so anxious! I left the car at my dad's place, so engine bay pics are something I unfortunately can't post right now. I just took three exterior pics when I bought it.
I will post engine bay pics ASAP though. Is there something in particular I should look out for?

the A32 maxima in USA dont but of coarse as enthusiasts and guys that mods we get em over here and some people swap the manifold, its really nothing special or a huuuge surprise as its more common around here but the fact that u lucked up and bought it from somebody who swapped the manifold is why there is this small hype... still a better manifold than the stock one though so i guess it is a lil special lol
if the engine bay looks exactly like the pic you post its a Mevi, if the top of the Engine doesnt look like that then its the regular USIM with Mevi engine cover, if the Manifold is Black then it could be a 00VI given it wasnt painted... my bet is a MEVI though which is a good thing... lil power bump and better power band than regular stock 4th gens

Looks like you have a Short Ram Intake, slightly different from a Cold Air. If the blue intake is yours thats more a Short Ram. It will give you a little more power off the line. But you loose top end power at higher speeds.
But yeah just take a pic of the entire engine bay and we all can tell you in a second what you have. Everything sounds like a MEVI with a Short Ram feeding into it. Either way definitely a good find.
I love the stock spoiler and sunroof wind guard combo. Great find! I'm jelly!

So basically if I have that cover, I have a MEVI? Because I have the cover, I know that for sure. I opened up the hood when I saw it for the first time and I was like wtf is this? I thought it was a swapped 5th gen engine or something. But then it had the same valve cover that the 4th gens had. I'm gonna ask my dad to take a pic of the engine for me and I'll post it soon.
Thank you! I'm in love with the car. I had a 300zx, then an RX7, then a 3000GT, and now this car haha. Not only is this Maxima the fastest, but it's completely ahead of it's time. So many features for a 95.
Fun facts for you:
Wards auto 10 best list for longer than any other engine in history. It was number 1 for about 6 years I believe, too.
Distributor? What distributor? Nissan Direct Ignition System (NDIS) Back in 95 it was one of the 1st engines with an ignition coil for each cylinder.
Great engine mounted to a light body. Less than 3300 lbs makes for a great power to weight ratio = more fun for you. The 95 Maxima actually weighs 100 lbs LESS than the 94 Maxima it replaced. Combined with a killer motor, it was all gravy.
Actually, the 2000-2001 Maxima really has the best 3.0 V6, but it was pushing a bigger, heavier 5th gen body, so it kinda hurt the fun factor a bit. That's why after 2 years Nissan upped the V6 to 3.5 in the 2002 Maxima with the same 5th gen body style.

Congrats on your purchase. You seem to have a thing with 3.0 6-cylinder engines. You will find that the V6 in your Maxima is probably one of the best, if not best V6 engine at 3.0 liters, in the world.

Thanks man, I drove it to work today. Never felt so satisfied with a car before lol. I can't believe I lucked into a car with some special mods. I just bought it from a 50 year old couple who lived about 5 minutes from me. Never thought it'd have a swapped intake manifold and an intake. God knows what else is in it. I don't know enough about cars to see and differentiate from what's stock and what's aftermarket.
Nissan sure does know how to build a good quality V6 engine. Just look at the New GTR, probably one of the most robust and powerful V6 engines of all time. I just read a spread in Modified magazine of the new Greddy tuned GTR. It's turning out over a whopping 1200hp and still has more room for improvement.

OP, post a pic of the ENTIRE engine bay.
