bought the complete rear strut assemblies (both with springs) from oreilly for 200 bucks total. had 180k on it and at that time you could bounce it with your pinkie lol. much better ride, and with that many miles your best off replacing the whole thing for sure.
believe the fronts were $150 each for the complete assembly. I need to eventually replace those too.
btw it's struts all the way around.

I'm planning on saving up and getting a good set of Illuminas all around - adjustable which is nice. Looking around 600 for front and rears on those, 800 or so with new springs

you can start by not hijacking someone else's thread.

That depends on how much you want to lower it and all that other crap. Search around and you'll find all the info (and more) you'll ever want about lowering. Heck, there's even a whole "suspension and chassis" section of the forums.

Back to the OP.
Springs don't go bad per say. You don't need the whole assembly, just the front struts and rear shocks and associated hardware that may need replacement.
Some good choices are Monroe Sensatrack, KYB GR2 (firm ride), Tokico HP series (very nice oem ride) and some have recently said Sensen which seem to be priced very competitively on eBay.
Either choice should restore your cars ride and handling.

Your jokes aren't funny and making fun of other members by suggesting they do ridiculous stuff gets on my nerves, so either try to contribute or stop wasting peoples time

not really saying the springs go bad but do the new struts come with the isolators or whatever those rubber things are that sit in between the spring and the strut. those have to be bad by now. it's also alot simpler installation with the whole assembly. don't have to worry bout transferring the springs.

Rockauto has complete set up for front shock with spring for about 100 each. I use them and they're fine. The rear you can just change the shock for about 50-60 each, I like the monroes.

I just replaced my 1999 SE shocks/struts with tokico blues from eBay $350 last Sunday. The rears came with bump stops and I purchased bearings and mounting plates from Napa and the ride is just like I remember and the car sits fine with the old springs.
