P1497 code?

Hello my fellow maxima owners,

I have been lurking on here for quite a while when I bought my 98 maxima back in oct 2011 as a DD.

In January, I quickly found that I had a blown head gasket? Coolant mixing (white froth) in oil crankcase shortly after an oil change. Never overheated, just found out when I was checking the oil level.

I have swapped the entire engine myself but still have the original motor on the stand. Hoping to replace the gaskets one day.

My question is, the swap went smoothly, the first issue I ran into was that I forgot to hook up the sensor for the EGR? the green plug. I fixed all that, erased the codes. Now Im constantly getting P1497. It does not come on when i start it and reset the ecu. It only comes on in the first second when the car is started when cold.

I have no luck finding the solution to that code on google and this forum, anyone have any ideas or answers?

is the new motor a 98 motor, or at least all the sensors for a 98?

It is a 1997 motor. but the sensor

(EGR Vacuum switch solenoid)

had a broken plastic vacuum hose fitting, so I took it off of the original 1998 motor and installed it on this block.

1997 block, 1998 intake manifold/throttle body but I did hook the vacuum lines up to appropriate fittings by FSM.

My bad. Checked the code again. It is P1492 not P1497.

From my search, it looks like there is a difference between year 1997 and 1998.

So the car is 1998, the motor is 1997. What would be my next step to replace to clear the code. I am assuming the ECU is getting the wrong readings and tripping the P1492 code.

The P1492 code is the MAP/BARO Switch Solenoid Valve. This is on both the 97 & 98. It is the same physical part that you posted a photo of. Nissan uses that same part in 3 or 4 different spots. This photo may help you identify it.

Just hit the JY and replace the Map/Baro switch, or whichever lil solenoid the code is throwing.

OP,

Its very easy to mix up the vacuum lines for the solenoid. U can test it by apply 12v across terminals.

I have some in case u want it. $5 plus shipping. so lets call it $10 each.

I have that code as well and my research led me to the YELLOW part, the EGR control solenoid in the pic above. But as stated, the parts appear and function IDENTICAL to each other. I found a few a the local junk yard, but I have yet to place them on my car.

When unplugged though air should flow through the middle port not the outside edge port. when supplied with power you should hear a click.

Hopefully this will be all I need for the p1447, because it kicked out a p1400 code from that I think.
