Found crank pulley bolt loose, resetting timing necessary?
I recently replaced p/s and a/c belts long over due. Now I have a light high pitch noise with rhythmic low (almost like a growl) pitch kind of knock. I looked at the belts and a/c belt keeps rising over the edge of the a/c pulley. I checked to see if anything is lined up and noticed the crank pulley is out further than the compressor pulley by 1/8 to maybe 1/4 of an inch. A few more turns and the bolt to crank pulley would have been completely off.
I'm going to loosen p/s and a/c belts and tighten the crank pulley but my question is does it sound like I'm going to have to reset the timing? It should set itself automatically correct?

That's right I totally forgot about the key. I had taken the valves off and them redone a year ago and put everything back together. I spent a week and a half on the timing chain and camshaft brackets I should have remembered the key being the"key" (no pun intended) factor to the timing not having to be reset
Thanks for responding so quickly it is greatly appreciated.
