A/C Problem. 95 w/ auto climate control
I have a 95 with automatic climate control.
Last month my high side line ruptured. The part of the line that goes to the evap inlet was rubbing against the intake manifold. Anyways, just got a new OEM high side line and installed it today. I evacuated the system for 10 mins (there was no refrigerent in it) and leak tested for another 10. Everything is good.
Charged the system with 650 grams of refrigerant through both sides. When I turned the A/C on, it was cold, but not nearly as cold as it should be (sorry, i didn't get vent temps or low side line temps right now) so I let the car run a little, revved it up for a little, never got cooler. I checked the pressures and the low side was good, but the high side was too low, at about 90 psi. I evacuated the system again and put in 700 grams this time. Barely changed. The low side line doesnt feel cold enough and the air coming out of the vents is not as cold as it should be.
I'm thinking maybe I didn't evac the system long enough before I charged it and there's moisture built up in the low side or my compressor went bad while I was driving around with a whole in the high side line. My thermal expansion valve might need to be replaced as well???
I'm gonna spend some time on it tomorrow after work when I get a chance but some suggestions beforehand won't hurt and would be appreciated. Thanks.

As soon as the line ruptured u needed a new drier.
Anytime the AC lines have been exposed to the atmosphere longer than a few hrs, or long enough to change out the drier, then u need to replace it.
Basically, since the system has been exposed, the drier is now oversaturated and cant hold/remove moisture from the refrigerant and therefore warm ac.

I'm going to agree. If the system's been open for an extended time, the dryer is shot. You should evacuate for at least 30 min. to make sure the system is indeed dry before you recharge.
