MAP Sensor Solenoid Valve code causing MIL

Hello, For a while now my 1996 maxima has been throwing a MAP sensor solenoid valve code causing a MIL to appear. A while back I replaced the solenoid valve, but this did not fix the problem appearantly, which was a little bit annoying since it was a $100 part from the dealership. For the longest time, I thought it must be the ECU, but I installed the ECU out of a 1998 maxima I used as a parts car for the automatic -> 5spd conversion I just did, and even with the '98 ECU, it is still throwing the P1105 code. Does anybody here have any clue what could be causing this? Thanks, Tyler

are you having any drive-ability issues? stalling, sputtering, misfires, poor idle?

that code usually leads to a vacuum leak.

any aftermarket parts or recent work done?

just on a side not 99% of the time its not the ecu.

It does idle slightly rough. And as far as recent work done, large amounts of recent work, she just got out of my garage after being converted from auto to 5 speed, and received a new engine from the parts car too, as the parts car had better sounding bearings. However, the code was there before the conversion... And I also replaced the solenoid valve a while before I started on the conversion, that part was a $100 dealer-only part and didn't fix a thing...

One more code just popped up... Downstream O2 sensor, I noticed the parts car I used for the 5spd conversion had 4 pins on the downstream O2 sensor, and mine has 3. I had to use the ECU out of the parts car to avoid transmission codes, don't know if there was a downstream O2 code with that one or not, because I changed it during the tranny swap. The parts car was a '98 SE, mine's a '96 GXE. By any chance could there be any incompatibility there?

Well there may be some incompatibility but I doubt it. ussually it's the 95 that has issues wih compatability. From 96- every current make and model the downstream and upstream o2s should have 4 wires. That could be your code right there.
Now as for the map sensor code; I would start by spraying an assload of carbspray near every place that has vacuum. Intake manifold, tb, lines, intake tube you get the idea. If the idle drops and stutters or shoots sky high then you found a leak. If not you may have to back prob the connector on the map sensor and check voltages. You may have a wiring problem

Well, I found out the incompatibility with the downstream o2 sensor. Obtained a copy of the 1998 FSM (already had the 1996 FSM), turns out the downstream o2 sensor is the only difference on the pinout for the ECU between those two year models. I guess I'm gonna have to find the correct wires and cut the wires that connect to said pins and switch them to get it to function correctly. As far as the MAP sensor solenoid valve code, a friend of mine told me sometimes a solenoid like that will not have as much resistance as the original, and will need a resistor in-line with it in order to register correctly, so I may give that a try. Either way, this MAP sensor solenoid valve problem seems to be quite common.

Mind you, it's the solenoid valve that's throwing the code, not the sensor it's self.
