Coolant Leak

I have searched the forum ,but unable to find an answer to my question.
I had our 1998 Maxima in the shop to diagnose a problem and corrected that one with a used MAF sensor I purchased from E Bay.
The shop noted that the "wax pack" was leaking and in need of replacement. I have noticed an occasional spot of coolant on the floor and could not find the source. I called the shop back and made an inquiry about the "wax pack". The service rep advised it was related to the IACV and was the cause of the coolant leak.
Is the "wax pack" the gasket for the IACV? Can the "wax pack" be purchased separately?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I called a few parts houses and no one had a clue what a "wax pack" was.

A wax pack is what a plumber uses when he installs a toilet.

When you saw the coolant on the ground, where was it? the IACV is on the driver's side, towards the firewall.

I know what it is and what's its used for. Don't see the relation to a car repair unless this guy is a real old timer and has a trick up his sleeve...still don't think wax pack belongs in engine area.

iacv in Honda's use a brass encapsulated "wax pack" just like in a thermostat. In Honda's, it is non-serviceable although you can adjust the valve seat.

I believe the iacv in our cars uses a stepper motor anyway.

Im with Trini on this one.

And wtf was the mech talking about cooling leak from the IACV??? That makes no sense.

Maybe if they sd coolant leak from TB coolant bypass. But if it was leaking from there, that leak would be PRETTY OBVIOUS.

OP, I suggest taking the car to another mech or Check coolant hoses.

After a long discussion and research on the part of a Nissan shop parts man, he identified the part as an Element Ki part #16391-31U00. The part is cylindrical about the diameter of a quarter and holds a coil type spring and a piston affair. The parts diagram showed the part installed in the area under the Throttle Body. He explained the wax seal on the piston section of the part will deteriorate over time and cause a coolant leak. The part is $108 at the dealership.
Does this make sense to anyone ?

Ahh I see it on the diagram. That's the Thermo Element Kit. Coolant does pass through that part of the throttle body but never had to replace mine yet. Still don't think "wax pack" holds it in place and keeps it from leaking.
