interior light problem

interior light problem
Just bought a '98 Maxima and I noticed my map light was out (the rest of the interior light were working) I had a bulb that looked like it would work so I put it in, when I pressed the switch to turn it on all of the interior lights went out. I changed the fuse (it looked fine) Anyone have any suggestions? btw I changed to bulb to one like the original. Let there be light...
