it was an option... you can tell by popping the hood pretty easily!

also, sounds like you might have had a bit of flash rust and it just kind of glazed them over. did it continue to do that? or just that once?

I thought the only ones with ABS as an option were the 99s....no others had it

According to wikipedia, the 99's were the only ones with optional Traction Control...maybe thats what you were thinking?? I just did some googling and looks like ABS was optional on all years but I could be wrong.

I think the FAQs sum it up pretty nicely as to what year they're optional on and all. IIRC it's optional on 95-96, and standard on 97-99?

You can follow these instructions here;

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...led-light.html

I tried that and failed abismally, so I just got s new OEM one. A bit pricey at $140

This is also partially right and wrong. ABS was not standard on GLE 4th gen maximas but it is standard on all I30s.

yeah but most people seem to have trouble removing the led strip without taking the spoiler off.

interesting if that is the case... Ive personally never seen a GLE without ABS... My ABS system is F'd so I always check for them at junk yards... Typically I deduct that it is a GLE by badging or woodgrain interior... (and no, i dont just assume that a woodgrain interior is GLE, there are differences in SE vs GLE) That and the pop-out drawers in younger years... Ive probably seen upwards of 100 maxima's in the junkyards, of which 15-20 were probably GLE's... Could I be that lucky?

Sorry, getting off topic here... But it intrigues me!

umm. i replaced my brakelight at spoilerlights.com. $50, + double sided tape cost. it looks and fits perfect. its not OEM but nobody on earth can tell the difference looking at my car.

i bought this one specifically. it sits flush and is bright as hell. in the time it would take to replace 3-4 of these (the same cost as one OEM one) i would have probably sold my car already. http://www.spoilerlights.com/servlet...und-Red/Detail

as for ABS. if you look under your hood or turn on your ACC lights and ABS lights up, you have it. SE models have it. 95-99. GXEs 99% of the time don't and GLEs are pretty much glorified GXEs with uglier door handles and don't again 99% of the time. (abs was always optional but SEs came standard with them)

either from factory if you want the exact harnesses, or you can just get an aftermarket harness that fits our bulb and splice it in.

not all SE's had it and according to the brochures that dwapenyi looked through it was optional on every model. I know for a fact not all se's have it as both aackshun, a local buddy with another crimson blaze 99, and nismo_maximus have two SE-L's and SE all without ABS...

That's exactly what a fully loaded SE is, sport + luxury. I have a 98 I30t 5-speed now, so you know I'm good

Yup. Same. I was happily surprised to find that, not only does my I30 have the nice rear headrests, but the 98 model also came perforated leather, like the 99 Max SE limiteds.

i dont like the wood grain for some reason. i would rather have all my stuff painted inside. i wanted to go blue but it wouldnt look good with the tan so i think i may just paint everything black with some flakes in it or something with blue lights

If I was in your shoes I would paint the window switches and dash trim a dark green with light green speckles/splatter. That combo with tan interior would be killer.

Not standard on the 97-99. I have a 97, no sign of ABS. Pretty sure it was an option for the 95-99.

OK, I see. Then this is what you have to do:

Power window switches and dash trim painted black
Neon Electric blue sprinkled/splattered etc on switches and dash trim.
All your LEDs (power windows, AC, gages) switch to electric blue.

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
