guess Im one of the ones that didnt get a good deal
I'd make the % decision according to your state laws. I got 35% on the doors and 20% on the rear window because NY's law is 70% and I didn't want to go too much below the law. 35% is pretty dark but you can easily see through it on sunny days. Costed me $155.

Go 5% all around. Even better, go 2.5% all around. Dont worry bout the police, ive never gotten pulled over for it. It should cost around 250. Just remember, dont go conservative, cause you will regret it, and 250 dollars will go out the window.

Save yourself the money and goto autozone, buy some black spraypaint and voila! Darker than limo tint! If you have a black interior you wont even have to cover anything! Hope this helps! lol

i got solargard for 125 bucks. guy said he would rip them off if i get a ticket and put them back on. smoke in color...get metallic tints, i like the charcoal/reflective ones in particular. the mirror ones are nice, but stick out too much, the cops around here got nothing to do besides pull people over for stupid stuff like tints and colored light bulbs.
????Confused??????
I am confused about this tint percentage. 35% is the legal limit here in KY. Some of you all say that 35% is dark but you can see through for the most part. What is the next lowest percentage? Sorry but thanks.
i have no idea what percent tint i have or how much it cost cause i bought the car this way i am just ****ed the inspection place stripped my front windows, F-ing NJ laws. Can ne one tell what percent my tint is??
tint
I live in Virginia, and here the law is 50% in the front and 35% in the rear. I originally had that but I recently (about 5 days ago) removed my old tint and got 20% all around. 20% is a huge difference from 35%. They make 30% and odd numbers like that but the difference in minimal. Most tint places offer 50, 35, 20, and 5 as far as smoke tint. Im not sure about reflective and the other more fancy stuff.
Yeah, Im really asking for it from the police since the tint is so dark but then again I was under the impression that an officer can't pull you over for tint, in other words, you have to be speeding or something -- then they hit you with two tickets. Can anyone confirm this?

it depends on what brand tint you have too. the tint on my car is 32%, but my tints look lighter (easier to see thru) than my friend who has a diff brand/type and his are 35%.
maximarider: its hard to tell from pictures, but it looks like you may have 35% on your back windows.

On my 99 CR-V I have 15% on the back and rear panel windows and 20% on the back and front passenger/driver windows. In my opinion, this is the way to go as the 15% is definitely noticeable in the back of the car while the 20% in the front keeps you from being too noticeable.
On my 98 GLE, I have 15% on the back window and 20% on all front/back, driver/passenger windows. Same effect as the CR-V. I'm using a metallized tint from SunGard.

ALL Mods to a car are illegal.
Fascists.
Let's see them try to enforce that one! How the hell will they know if I have a Y-pipe or not?
Tint is still legal, tho....sorry about the OT.

How ironic that we're talking about "tints" in WA state. In Sep 00 in my 98 Integra GS-R I was pulled over by a state patrolman for my Greddy exhaust. I inquired about the state law for noise ordinance and performance modifications. He replied that it wasn't necessarily the noise that was the problem (although I suspect that's why he pulled me over in the first place), but that it was because my vehicle appeared to be illegally modified. I told him that the exhaust was 50 state legal and he said, that he didn't doubt that , but that when it was installed it became illegal.
I asked him about the exhaust of say, a HD motorcycle or HD Ford P/U and he said the difference was that those vehicles came "stock" with those parts and that they were not added.
So, long story short, what does he ticket me for?
Defective Equipment
For ... my 20% tint on my windows! He had some type of scanner that he attached to my front windows! Oh well ...

i think the lowest you can go is 42% or atleast thats what they told me when i got mine done. i have 35% and i love it, just enough for looks and dont have to worry bout gettin pulled over for it again. i had 20 on the front of my last car and 5 on the back and got wackede for it so go for like 20-35 cuz tint law sucks

Anyway, get medical clearance from your Registry & doctor to waive the tint law if your eyes are light sensitive....
Go with 5%
If you want a neat way to preview a tint, and an easy way to check legality, head over to http://www.autowindowtintings.com and click on online tint demo
only downside is you can only preview it on a gold, blue, or sliver car. But it'll show you any combination of frontside and rearside tints in increments of none, 35, 30, 20 and 5. And while you're previewing it shows you what states the current tint is legal in.
kinda nifty
