I am planning on replacing the Bose, with a Jvc that has a 6 volt amp instead of what I think is a 3 volt on the stock.

A 110 alternator should not have any issues with that, right?

The alternator isn't your issue when replacing the BOSE system.

Also op: Your question is worded weird. I'm not 100% on the Bose system, but the whole car is ran off of 12 volts. Then you ask if the 110 amp alty is gonna be good enough.

Could he mean Watts. Bose preamp =3W doesnt it? The biggest thing I think would be the Ohms.

6 watts? If you are concerned with 6 watts then there is something wrong!

I have been running a JVC deck for years now and I have no problem with the alternator but you do have to use Pac converter as I didn't run a new set of wires.

Sorry about any confusion. If it's worded weird it's because I don't know too much about car audio. I was talking about preamp output voltage, which is 5 volts for the head unit I am talking about.

Ok, so basically I found the sticky for head unit installation.

http://forums.maxima.org/audio-elect...nt-thread.html

I didn't see anything about a PAC converter. The sticky just mentions the Metra harness for antenna and speakers, so you don't use the head units amplifier on the stock speakers but rather their own preamps. At least that's how I understood it.

Do I need a PAC converter in addition to the metra adapters?

This is the head unit I am talking about. This is the head unit I am talking about.

So all I need is a 2 din HU and

Metra 70-7551
Metra Antenna adapter

I do not need the dash kit, if I already had a 2 din bose, right?
There won't be a space between the aftermarket 2din HU and the dash that was around the original Bose HU?

Thanks

I had a BOSE and was told that PAC converter was the way to go. For me, it was the easiest way to go and I haven't had any problem. Personally, I would go with the PAC Converter rather than using the METRA kit. But that's just me!

Your double din should fit perfectly in the BOSE HU slot without any spaces.

Yep. I answered in the thread you created.

No need to thread bump and have a new thread asking the same question.

It did sound like you know for sure. No offsense. Since the guy here might have tried this before, it certainly make sense to have a confirmation. Plus, it is always a good idea to bring a thread to a closure, don't you agree?

This thread was about power, not fit.
It is also in the wrong section.

I have a double din in my 4th gen.
It's an older kenwood and there is a slight gap all around the radio. Hardly noticeable though.

So I have tried this before.

This thread had fail written all over it though.
The title is a joke.
It was left to die for a reason IMO.

And we are certainly not help, are we? Lol..

Anyway, my question was mostly for atrium on post #9. Did send him/her pm also. But figured someone else might have the same question, as I came across at least another thread that mentioned about the same HU.
