Blower Motor Resister?

Ok I think my blower motor resistor is out but I am not 100% sure bc all the ones I have found in search they have some functionality. My blower only blows on 4 and even when I turn everything off the motor is still running full out. Am I right in assuming the resistor is bad or is it something else?

Auto does not have a blower resistor. Read thru this post that was just posted and see if this answers your question http://forums.maxima.org/8530433-post4.html

It sounds to me like your Fan Control Amplifier has a shorted transistor in it.

I tried to read it but I couldn't understand all that gobbledy gook. It sounded more like a sales pitch to get you to buy all the leftover 1987 Yugos.

I got same problem couple of years ago, fan only worked at 4. And yes, if the blower resister is bad, then 1, 2, 3 will not blow any air. I got a replacement part from Advance Auto Parts for something like $20 and replaced it and that fixed the problem. The resister is at the passenger side under the glove box.

hes got auto climate control. completly different setup hes alsor stated that when he tries to shut it off it still blows on high which even in our cars with the manuel switch means its not the resistor. its a short

You have to be careful when you say resistor. Some Maxima's use a resistor, other's don't. It depends on the control panel in the dashboard. If the controls are the kind where you slide a lever to raise or lower the temperature, then that car has manual controls and uses a resistor. On the other hand, if the control panel has a digital display and you turn a **** that shows a number for the temperature setting, than that car has the automatic climate control system. Instead of a resistor, it uses a part called a Fan Control Amplifier. Not the same animal and not interchangeable.

If you read the op's 2nd post, he stated he had the auto climate control. If you knew the differences, you should not have made your post. If you didn't know the differences, well, I hope that you will read this and learn.

And if you are in learning mode, go read post #3 by 2brosgixxer and click on the link he posted. You may learn a little more.
