First two Mods
First two Mods
Whats up everyone I've learned alot reading these boards but this is my first post. I didn't think this belonged in the photo thread because I'm not showing off my car just the mods.

My car is white so I wanted to make the letters on the back white with a red background. I took off the cheesy gold emblems and washed them down in soapy water with a steel wool pad. I painted 3 layers of red, let them dry overnight, taped them off then painted 3 more layers of white, and a couple layers of clear coat. I used masking tape first but it sucked so I used clear packing tape to make some corrections. It worked great I should've used it in the first place.

The last A is a little off, I'm gonna re-do at some point.
The grille was tough because I didn't know what I wanted. First I wanted all white. Then I saw some black grilles and decided to do black and white. I used 80 grit sandpaper to sand down the face of the grille, then started on the actual grating part of the grille and realized that I could make some cool pinstripes just by sanding it, so I did that instead. I left it two tone so its white underneath. I put like 8 layers of black and 3 or 4 clear coats, if you look really close in person you can barely see the sanding marks. I repeated the same process to clean the emblem and just painted it 5 or 6 layers of black with no clear for a flat look.

I left that red stripe on the license plate holder to match the back but it looks retarded so I'm gonna paint it all white. Sorry for the grime, she needs a wash. Pretty satisfied with the results especially because I never did anything like this before.

Why not lol
Yea I totally agree but I don't have the patience to pull that off right now... maybe in a few weeks. Glad that I have the support of the org so far I know there are some harsh critics in here.
i think the grill would look better if it wasnt rattlecanned and something else matched it. i like the dudes idea with the emblem. i would hand paint the letters white and do the outline to the burger red
or **** it. paint the grill red or white where its black too. if the grill was red there i think itd tie together the plate bracket and the rear emblem.
