need help 96 maxima timing chain (vq3.o)
I been working in this for going on 2weeks. One of my timing tensioner was broke and was making a clicking noise in my timing cover.so I just bought a brand new timing chain kit. I put the motor in tdc and took the timing chain off . I swapped out all of the gears with the new ones that came in the kit also the tensioners and chain guards. the new timing chain had 3 blue mark for timing and each gear had a dot 2 for timing. I got a picture of the timing chain marks off of all data but that was all I was able to get because of the owner ( the guy who owns all data) did wanna to print out everything for me or let me even look at the screw. I tried my best to get all the marks lined up as close as I can.but the back one was the only 1 that was giving me problems. it didn't want to line up right to the sport so I got it as clothes as could. so then I put everything back together and the motor cranks but won't turn on. It doesn't spark n I have no idea why.it ran b4 I took all apart 2.

Not having spark is an indication that the chain is not properly aligned and the timing is off. The timing chain may have jumped a tooth while you were trying to adjust the tensioners. It happens.
Maybe you should down load the FSM and look at the timing chain installation section in chapter EM, page 26.

Spray starter fluid in the intake manny and see if it starts up. When I messed up the timing on my engine swap it backfired a flame out the intake and burned the hairs off my friend's hairy arms.
It was pretty cool haha but my response afterwards was F$#$** B*&#$ because I had to take apart the timing while the engine was in the car and not outside...
edit: also check if you are getting fuel by taking out a spark plug and see if you smell fuel. Make sure your plugs are not soaked in fuel. Even if you messed up the timing you should be getting spark. At least I did...

The timing chain section in the FSM will give you all that you need. Its not really a topic you can lend advice to without seeing it in front of you as the tolerances are very slim. THe pictures in the FSM are very good and if you still have trouble then report back

The ECU can tell if internal engine timing is off by looking at cam and crank position signals. If they don't line up, you'll get a no start condition.
Being engine timing is what you just worked on, one can safely assume its not correct.
