What would you do?

I just purchased my second max, I have spent 900 do far on rims, lights, intake, and a deck. But I am really wanting better performance. I have $500 set aside for performance (hp) and I wana get the most out of my money, in order what are the best mods for that. And if u have a combo of a few things I could get for the 500$ that would be great, just tryin to get the most bang for my buck

if your car is in good shape maintenance wise, and your exhaust doesnt need any parts replaced, id say get a y-pipe and NWP intake spacers if you can squeeze both into that budget.

Just by getting a ypipe you will notice a difference.

Youll have a decent deep growl with the right parts and to me sound like a single path 350z

Ok cool, I called a muffler shop and they said on nissans they have pinched the muffler from 2 inches too 1, in the back of the stock exhaust, they said they could cut that out and add in 2 inch piping for $40. They said it will increase horsepower by a decent amount. Has anyone heard of this?

well people need to get their facts straight then, because i asked about my 4th gen fed spec y-pipe and whether i should sell it or keep it since its brand new, and i asked arent they out of production? and everyone responded oh no you can still get them made today you just need 10 other buyers. so which is it because when we did that final group buy he said himself that was the last chance for anyone to get a new y-pipe.

Does adding a Y pipe while leaving everything else stock cause me to have a ricey sound? Also will I see the 10-15 hp gains with everything else stock?

Mine added a little grumble, wasn't really noticeable with the stock catback.
Yes you will see those gains.

I would just ask the man himself.

You could probably get a ebay headers and/or catback and maybe an aftermarket air intake, then you'll have to save for the installation. You can't get much done for $500 especially when you want to most gains possible. Unless you're really good with DIY mods there's always the installation cost which my be a few hundred dollars

It wasn't bad for my first time working on a car aside from changing oil. I used the y pipe out of an eBay shorty header setup so I had to modify it to fit. Otherwise, just follow the how to on here and you will be good to go.

I am getting mixed responses on how the car will sound with everything stock except the y pipe. Some say u won't hear it but some say I'll sound like a ricer. Which is the case?

the last response you got seems most like how it is. with stock catback you get a deeper grumble with a ypipe, but nothing too loud. its not ricey, that comes with a fartcan along with a cheap ypipe.

So when I stomp on it my judgmental friends won't think it's nasty sounding? Does anyone have a sound clip?

Spencer -

We don't have all the answers for you here man. Search youtube and you'll get some clips.

Are you modding your car for YOU, or for your judgmental friends?

Will you sound like a Ricer? NO. Especially with stock exhaust. Stock mufflers do a wonderful job! YOU WILL sound like a ricer if you go 3" straight pipe and fart-can muffler. But if you're only talking a y pipe (with or without spacers), you will be slightly louder but not at all obnoxious.

I currently have a warpspeed y (wrapped with DEI titanium wrap) and a test pipe from them (just call them and they'll make it for you). the rest of my exhaust is stock including the muffler. When I drive like a normal person, I hear no increase in sound whatsoever. If I stomp on it, it does get loud, but not obnoxious or ricey.
In fact, my brother makes fun of me saying my car is a hybrid now...

The reason my catback is stock for now is I'm waiting to either purchase a ready made system or weld the mandrel bends I ordered to a Apexi WS2 muffler, whichever will come out cheaper.
