Thanks guys, but you didn't read down far enough. I did get it back. They trashed the lock cylinder but didn't break the glass. Must have used a potato...

Sorry, Trini, it's been fixed and I didn't get pix. It's about what you'd expect though. They pulled the lock cylinder out so they could start it with a screwdriver inserted from the right side. I took a screwdriver with me when I went to look at it in the police yard, but mine was too large. The shop used a normal sized flat head and it worked. I'm not sure what you could do to prevent it, short of putting on something like the Club. I've thought about putting a kill switch on the fuel pump, but most of the damage would be done by the time they find that out. Something visible like the Club might be a better deterrent.

OP, happy for you for finding your car... And full coverage must be a good thing eh?
Reminds me of the time I had my 97 broken into (St. Louis is one helluva place). They smashed my pass window and ripped my HU out. My gas tank was open and my spoiler tabs were broken, they must have had a hard time finding the trunk release HAHA.

Anyway, you know after reading this thread I had to peek out of my window and lock-unlock my car a couple of times just for peace of mind

The club doesn't work. It is easily defeated by cutting the steering wheel and removing it. If you want a deterrent, get a Viper alarm. That way when they get in the car the alarm will go off.

Or get a quick release steering wheel...
