Y-pipe rattle

It's me again.. So I got me y-pipe installed. And I found that there is a rattle when revving the engine. I removed the heat shield, so I am not sure what it could be. Any ideas?

Ill take another look tomorrow, and let you know if that's it. If that is it, is there a solution?

I had that. Stick a piece of wood in there and once you weld it, it will stay in that position

Is there a Fix that doesn't require welding?

get down there and move the pipe with your hand and itll prolly bang easily and make the same noise youre hearing.

what i did was i got an extra bumpstop i have from my bag of ****, and i stuck it between the two spots that bang. then i wrapped the flange and bump stop in duct tape. this is my very short term fix until i get an OEM similar hanger welded onto the left side of my ypipe. the kind that has a 90 degree angle in it, to hold the entire exhaust to the left a bit.

what i want to know is why the *** cattman put a hanger on the ypipe in the middle of ****in nowhere to do nothing??

Update: I have noticed that when leaving my drive way it rattles as well as when I go over bumps, did yours do that?

At what point of the y pipe would you put the hanger? Right before the cat?

yes, there are two right there on the OEM. i would only really need the one on the left side. and would use the oem rubber hanger. and yes it banged over bumps obviously. anything thatll cause the exhaust to move.

i dunno, did you check what i said and see if its banging where i said it was?

if so, then you might just need a stiffer rubber hanger. it depends. like i said mine need to be pulled to the cars left. im not there to see exactly what you need to do.

You know the 3 foot long section that you can use to jack up the front of you car? The lift side of my y pipe is running against it

Did you get it used? I added my own hangars. You need to get the right ones

I dont see how that is possible unless the just bent the pipe wrong. Mine really is nowhere near to banging on it but when I put a high flow cat/resonator on mine started banging exactly where GG's was. Its a close squeeze through there anyways so usually it will bang

thats not what i said at all. you said it was rubbing where i said. i said, mines the catback rubbing against a crossmember back by the right REAR wheel.

i have no idea why your ypipe is rubbing against that crossmember. are you sure? are all the nuts tightened down all the way, and are your header studs all in god condition?

no my ypipe came with 1 hanger already on it. and its on the top of the pipe right after the flex section, but it leads to nowhere. its just up in the exhaust canal over a foot in the other direction from any hanging point.

So I had thought it was running at the jack point, so I jacked it up to get a better look, had someone rev it for me, and it seems to be fine when jacked up. It may be the bolts, ill double check they are all sufficiently tight, could it happen from over tightening them?

Turns out there is a twanging coming from the Front manafold portion of the Y, and the knocking is coming from the rear, I can't seem to find it, but when I shake my muffler I can hear the exact sound I am looking for.

Sure thats a Cattmann? That looks like aluminized steel in the picture unless you painted it. Who knows maybe just tack welded on so you could put it where you want

did you read above? Look where the b-pipe goes back to its highest point right above the rear beam. It knocks on the passenger side. It is close stock but when you start welding on other parts it usually starts to hit.

yes, i bought it brand new in the last group deal. unless cattman ripped us all off? doubt it tho. the one thats on there is welded on nicely. should have come bolt on or somethin or just put one in the right spot...
