I drive a 98 Maxima because it was my first new car. My 2nd new car is a 07, and my 3rd new car is a 11. Actually the 3rd car is my wife's....

Just last week I replaced the starter--it was the first time the Maxima ever left me stranded. I say it really isn't the fault of the car, after all, it's a starter. Going to replace that wiper transmission linkage soon too.

 

Because I have a problem with modifying cars and I like to do it on a budget

 

cuz its kinda easy to modd, i need the space, i totaled my g35, got rid of my crossfire, traded my 03 altima, got my motorcycle stolen, my 2000 integra wasnt fast enough for me, i cant find a decent 6spd max, i cant find a decent altima ser, i got another child on the way, rent to damn high, i seen a 3.5 swap and loved it.......and thats cutting it short

Low initial cost, low insurance, 4 doors (2 kids), v6, 5 speed, sporty looking, all the standard equipment Maximas are known for.
And its what I found on craigslist the weekend I needed to buy a car.

Because it was given to me. And being 20 years old, insurance rapes on everything.

 

For me, I drive a car this old because it gets me from A to B then back to A, reliably.

And I don't have to pay some evil finance company every month for the right to drive it, which is a big plus for me.

Also new cars now-a-days feel bloated. The interior bulges out everwhere and the exterior looks way to big. I might be old school but after driving a 2011 Galant for a week then a 08 Accord for another week, and then driving my 97 I realized that everything in my 15 year old car feels sturdier, the ride is actually smoother, the interior is out of my face, and I can actually see the road.

 

My car is reliable, drives smooth, paint looks good, leather seats look better than 5 year old cars. No car payment etc. Etc. If you use the car for it's intended purpose of going from point a to b in decent comfort then it's hard to justify getting rid of the max.

Because I love the power and the fact that it´s a sleeper...Because it has all the features & practicality I need ...And also, when I tried to change it, I wasn´t able to find a decent replacement, even on newer cars.

Passed down to me and bro. Good first car, can't complain, but would be more fun if it was a 5 speed. I drove a friends A32 fully bolted 5 speed, what a world of difference.

 

Gets me from Point A to Point B, back to Point A. Very reliable. Gets about the same or more MPG than the new V6's out there. Cheap on insurance. New cars are cheaply built. New cars look like boats. They just get bigger every 3-4 years. For Nissan, reliability just went downhill around the 2000's IMO.

 

 

Never left me stranded where I didn't want to be. Quick on pickup and its just the G.O.A.T of VQ....

 

Bought mine when I used to work at a dealership for $1,500. They were going to send it off to the auction, and I convinced them to sell it to me. It was originally going to be my 2nd backup car, but when my primary car was T-boned by an 18 year old girl that ran a red light, it's been my primary transportation since and is the only car I own right now.

 

I used to own a '00 Max SE, and I loved that car. I was browsing car lots, trying to find a new car, and found an '02 Max SE, but it had stupid high mileage, and was ratty as hell. Everything that could rattle, did. Strange noises coming from places I didn't even know existed. They also had an 02 I35, and it was clean, babied, and ran smooth. Only downfall is that I35's have slushbox transmissions :/

 

I own it, insurance is cheap, relatively reliable, and gets decent fuel economy.
And thanks to the forums, I am very familiar with the car, which makes most troubleshooting much easier.

I was never able to get up the courage to modify a new car - I'd much rather work on older cars. Less intimidating to modify, used parts are plentiful, plenty of aftermarket support - and with 3 kids, inexpensive to work on.

The added bonus for my Maxima is that it's been in the family since new - I got it from my Dad a few years ago with very low miles in decent shape.

Cus fast full size V6 5Spd, And packing a V6 honored on Wards 10 best engines list 7 years straight! (95-01 IIRC)

 

simple. I bought it new in 95 and it has under 80K so at 17 years old it has a ways to go before I stop driving it.

Divorce. Child support, plus the fact that I love the 4th gen.

The 4th gen body IMO is just the right size. Not too big, not to small. Some days I'm cruising in chill mode and my car is quiet. Other days I get on it and my 4th gen responds enthusiastically.

The 3.0 VQ. The engine LOVES to REV and when you redline it, it just wants more. No longer the most powerful but it loves to go. The other day a WRX sti blew me away (as it should) but I didn't care. I still prefer my car over his any day.

If my car was totalled and I had to replace it, I dont see much out there. OK, maybe a G37 6 speed, or a 370Z, but as the VQ has grown in size and power, it seems to have lost its love-to-rev luster.

BMW was smart in that they kept their 3.0 motor and put it everywhere. The 328 is really a degaussed 3.0 and the 335 is a turboed 3.0

Nissan needs to make a twin turbo 3.0 VQ, giving an affectionate nod to the Last, best Z, the 300ZX TT. That would be SO awesome.

 

have you been reading the new Dsport? A 350z did an homage to the ZX and did a twin turbo setup. Nice ride. 600whp

 

And it didn't make it to 02 cuz they stopped putting them in cars and went up in displacement lol

 

because, my dad crashed my Pontiac Matiz and I ended up with a older but more safe car, its also powerful compared to the matiz

Because i'm a 20 year old student who likes to have some power under the hood while not looking like a ricer, and don't have the money for anything too new. Dont wanna lease. I'm on my second Max now, 97 GLE (96 GLE was smashed by an F150, RIP). $600 for a flawless body '97 that only needed brake work and new struts? Couldn't pass it up. Almost decided on getting a 2k Max but decided 4th gen was good enough for me especially if it keeps extra cash in my pocket. Perfect blend of family sedan and sports car
