Someone buy this Holy Grail

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/3306638095.html

Was just browsing through craigslist, and saw this beauty. I wish i had 6.5k to put down on this, but none the less this car was jaw dropping.

gauge clusters are easy to change....

on that note, I'd want some proof that the car really only had that low of miles as well as if the car has a salvage title

i think the condition of everything is some pretty decent evidence that its a really low milage car.

1995-2012 would put that car at being on the road for 17-18 years. That would put it at 1500-1600 miles each year..or roughly 130 miles each month. My question would be "why?" Why would someone purchase a mass produced, economical, family sedan and barely go through a take of gas every 3 months?

Its not like its a show car or anything, the only thing that I really see changed is the 97-99 front and rear swap and the Altima wheels. That raises the question again of "Why?". Why would you spend the money for the swap for a car that you barely drive? unless its been wrecked and you wanted to give it a facelift before selling it

Just seems kind of fishy to me, I would have to really look it over signs of damage ,etc, etc

people dont realize that even for a partially rebuilt car it still looks clean, and if it checked out i would pay 5k for it all day long. as long as it was'nt completley totalled and rebuilt from ground up which it doesnt look like it was.

have you ever been to a NY junk yard? You gotta see how clean alot of these Maximas and i30's are. I did a black cloth -> black leather swap (panels and seats), all mint condition.

Salvaged cars really aren't all bad. My car for example was in a head on collision and was rebuilt.

I bought when I was 17 and it has been 4 years and still going strong.

My motor is cleaner than that and i have 212,xxx miles on it. If i swapped my cluster or rolled it back it would look exactly like that car. I bet that car had a 3.5 swap and the whole nine yards

That ain't no 95.

It's got the 97-99 front AND rear. That's a 97 GLE.

Wait are you sure? I have a 97 GLE and my interior and that one is different.

My cup holders have a lid on them, the steering wheel is different, the Bose system on mine is different too.

But besides those minor cosmetic things, they are pretty much the same.

i could be wrong, the more I think about it.

But with the 97-99 front AND rear ends...it's a bit fishy, as earlier mentioned.

It's a 95 but the front and rear are swapped. And I have seen maxima's with less miles so it is possible that its legit. I met a guy about 10 years ago with a 95 se,manual. One of the first se's with original stillen mods.12,xxx miles on the clock. Still had the new car scent.

i also know a lot of people who buy salvage titles and fix them up for themselves. thats the only way they buy cars. and they save a good chunk of change doing it.

my point* that just because its salvaged doesnt mean its bad.

The VIN number says it is a 95. I can understand it being a salvage car if it was in an accident. An old car doesn't have a lot of value and the cost of repairs is so high. So to me the question is - how good was the repair work? Is the front end in alignment? Are there water leaks in the trunk?

salvages arent bad if fixed right but i would only pay for a salvage car if 1st its done right and 2nd it is 30-50% off book value.

My point exactly if the car is in good repair than great! thats one problem solved and now to check out that mileage is your second problem

I'm not so sure I agree with you on that point, but I will say that the floor on the driver's side looks a little too beat up for 28K.

50% off book value, after its been restored? what sense does that make? people need to stop assuming that after an accident a car can just never be the same. its a superstition. the job of a good body shop is to return the car to BEFORE ACCIDENT CONDITION. if you go look at it, and there isnt over spray in spots, there isnt any ghetto rigged panels, an there is no flood damage or underbody rust, its fine.

It's definitely a 95. Its also a FED spec which is kind of rare too.

The front & rear bumpers, grille, hood, trunk with spoiler, bumper lights, and tails have been replaced. The interior is a dead give away that it is a 95/96. I think its a pretty good looking car. As long as it was just sheet metal damage, seems to be a good deal.

I bought a salvaged A32. 236k miles and still running strong. I don't see what wrong with salvaged vehicles. I personally don't care because I won't sell it. I am going to run it until it completely dies. Maybe it just matters to those who plans to sell their vehicles.

i guess what's important about "salvage" titled cars, is WHY they are salvage cars (ie what made them be classifieds as a slavaged vehicle, not so much that they necessarily have a salvage title per se.

Yeah usually if its for personal use the salvage title is blown off. But because of places that say salvage titles are "dangerous" the resale value abruptly drops if it is a salvage vehicle.
