Just wanted to say hello and thank all forum members for there input on there cars. I recently bought a fully loaded 1999 Maxima SE (AT) with 131k miles for a back up car to get through winter so I would not have to drive my 2012 Mustang GT 1600 miles a month and in the snow with summer tires.

What I am pleasantly discovering is I really like this car. I knew Maximas were nice but a little surprised. The interior is very comfortable, drives extremely smooth and the bose sterio sound better than my Mach 500 stereo in my Gt premium. I am comparing a car I paid 2500.00 to a MSRP 38k car!

Thanks to this forums members I was aware of the lower radiator support issue (mine is perfect), fixed my heated seats in 15 minutes instead of monkeying around with it for hours, replacing rear struts and next plan on refurbing front end and I should have a good driver. I do have some vibration issues over 60mph. I am lifting car today and taking front wheels off to make my plan for replacement beginning with quick struts, stabilizer links and probably lower contol arms. Not looking forward this as I know the front end work on a 13 year old car is a major PITA!

Any hoo again thanks to all who post good info and I plan posting as I continue to get mine back to 100%. Anyone in the Manassas Va area needs a hand let me know!

Welcome to the site, and to the Maxima family! This place is an invaluable source of information, you can get better information faster than you could at a dealership (and for free!)

Yes, welcome to Maxima .org.

One thing you may be interested in would be the service manual. You can download a manual from here if you don't all ready have one:

I am curious how your Mustang, or older Mustangs compare with your Maxima.

Sure the Mustang has more power.

How does the handling and the braking compare?

Welcome and glad to hear that you enjoy the 4th gen and have a taste for giving it the TLC. Very reliable car once you get to know it and very low maintenance.

New Forum Member-imag0521.jpgYou asked, although it is now sporting Eagle F1 285/35/19s on the rear as the car has a traction problem through first three gears. They are very different cars. Maxima a sporty refined tourer that handles well and has good braking. The GT is a beast that has nothing refined, just ***** out performance. I think many would be how surprise how well the Mustang handles and brakes, especially with the brembo brake and supension (track pack) option.

DD Maxima hands down. Sunny day or trip to the track, easy choice GT.

It all ready has. Been shopping for rims. Though my goal is to make it a nice dd. I think she has another 100k or so in her. Still sorting out vibration. Nothing looks like it is obviously bad on front end. Taking it to a trusted shop to have tires rebalanced and get there opinion.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

93 bama race tune, GT500 axle backs, intake, h pipe otherwise stock, 405 rwhp. With 3.73 gears it is plenty for street. With stock 255 Pzeros 12.6 @ 109mph. In few years maybe a vortech SC, or a 2008+ Z06 that I couldnt afford, although the GT is a much better DD.

Yours looks pretty damn good! I plan on getting some different rims and going to a darker tint. I love that parts a plentiful and cheap for this car.
