Somebody broke-in to my 98 max AAAhhhrrrrggh!

That's right fellows, right on my driveway around 3 a.m.

The idiot ripped everything apart, my stereo along with my digital AC, so i don't have stereo nor AC...And he just cut through everything...I just went to a junk and did a FRANKEINCANTERDASH with parts from many models different colors...But that's better than seeing a big black hole on my center dash.

He also took my shifter...I wish I has an sniper rifle and wait for him till he shows up and shoot him on his behind...At least with a BB gun

I'd like to rig it up so when you pull the stereo out the airbag goes off. Take that *******.

I think a 2-way pager alarm would be a great investment for the future

you guys don't have a stock alarm on the car? Or is that not effective enough?

What will an airbag do? Think about it!!! A guy breaks into your car to steal your sound system and gets hit in the face from an air bag that was rigged to go off, I gauranty you he will vandalize your car. An alarm won't stop a thief, it will just deter them from doing the damage. I'd stick with a 2-way pager alarm man.

Besides, have you ever tried replacing and airbag? Hundreds of dollars maybe more and that's why most insurance companies write off cars with deployed airbags

Thanks for your comments esteemed maximorgers.

I´ve been looking for an alarm while going back and forth to the junkyard...So far I´m getting over losing my $ 180 stereo (I really miss the USB capability)...And thank God I didn´t get rid of my Bose head unit, which is back on duty, after redoing my antenna cable twisting it with another piece of cable with a connector on it...And guess what? It worked out great. No CD however, but meh...I'll wait till I get an alarm installed. Besides the Airbag idea, I wish something can be done to be more ¨assertive¨ with this lowlife thieves(Say... some flames coming out on the sides of the car, electrifying the steering wheel or the dash, etc) Something has to be done with these idiots. It´s not just losing the stereo, I also had to pay 40 bucks for my digital AC controller and paying for the connectors.

I just received the Climate control unit, and was able to reinstall my old BOSE head unit...The cover that goes above the ashtray and arond the BOSE HU, has a wood insert (Light brown) that didn't match anything...I fixed that with a sharp X-acto and lots of patience, so the cover would be black...The pocket in the middle and the ashtray cover were dark brown, but I was able to find another MAX with those items in black and switched them...So my dash is back as it was, black and with my BOSE unit. I also replaced my shifter with a new one (Aluminum on top, leather in the sides), and this thief took it away as well.

Sight will always deter thieves. Try a realistic phony python and lay it on the front seat or front dash. You have to deal with moving it everytime you drive. ;-)

Hahaha, well maybe...But I was thinking of getting an annoyingly loud alarm instead, one that even when the car is opened with a key (Or if the lock gets forced), will let the hell out loose..-

I´m in Mexico man, laws sucks, and mostly they benefit the thief not the offended...Check out this scenario...Suppose that I catch the idiot and beat the crap out of him, secure him and call police...They will let him go, and if he complains that I assaulted him, they would take me to jail for a few days (Hopefully) and the thief will call some of his friends and either vandalize my car or do some mess on my house. The best I can do is to deter him to do it...A good alarm can do that.

True story.

I was going to work around 6:30 am and was waiting for a green light behind a Pontiac. All of a sudden I heard a big screech and I get to see a pair of lights coming at me fast . I check the front and the pontiac was to close for me to move and avoid the collision...So I just breath a pray and thought of my wife and my daughter.
Some moron was late to work and was speeding, and he rammed my MAX. The trunk was destroyed, along with my tail lights, the good thing is that I was able to move my car to wait for the cops. I was pretty confident that since this moron had all the fault, I would just have to wait for the hassle of the paperwork on the police offices. Surprise surprise, everything was against me, and I had to settle for half of what costed me to fix my car...It was that or accepting to get $20 bucks a month from him...I just had a week with the max and I was pending to get it insured, so I had to rely on what this guy would pay me...I was so pissed off then...And I was so pissed of after realizing that a citizen is on his own when it comes to all the possesions you may get with hard work and savings...And to answer your question, NO, I didn´t want to wait several hours to place a file with th police, just to confirm that they won´t do a thing. That´s the way it is and I´ve just have to take it and keep moving. Thanks for your condolences, I believe I´m already over it

Just so you don´t think ¨Well, Logan must live on a though neighborhood¨I live on a private area, with security guards and until now, there was no need to fence my property because it is so quiet and ¨safe¨, and nothing was ever stolen or damaged, seems like that doesn´t deter them anymore...So I´m getting an alarm.
