I had just replaced the ecu in my max with one i bought at a junkyard...Now the engine turns over, but it will not start..HELP!!!

 

Did you make sure the ECU is interchangable between model years? I know 99 had some new emissions equipment relative to 95-98, so I'm sure it's interchangable.

Also, there is confusing with the term "turning over." Turning over means the car starts. What you are probably referring to is that the "engine CRANKS but does not TURN OVER."

 

the ECU has to be right on the money..

Cali Spec Car / Cali Spec ECU
Auto Car / Auto ECU
ABS Car / ABS ECU

 

Also make sure none of the pins are bent on the ECU. Sounds like its not getting a signal from the MAF sensor.

 

could be...but i tested out the spark and there is spark and i tested the injector connectors and it also works..whats wrong here?? couldn't be the gas..i just added 5 gallons

 

didn't you say the ECU was the only thing you changed? put the old ECU back in and see if it starts.. if it does.. then it is the ECU you just got.. ither its not working or its the wrong one..

try to match up the VIN on the Original with the new one

 

This is wierd..on the one i just got, it does get sparks on all cylinders but no injector pulse...on the old ecu it gets spark on all cylinders except 1 and 6 and pulse, but it doesnt start..the MAF sensor seems to be ok..What's wrong with this picture??!?
