I am stumped. working on my 95 max and replaced the head gaskets due to a bad gasket and she was purring like a kitten when I pull her in, now after replacement of the gaskets this Razza-frackin P1320 code is throwing me for a loop. No following codes and the 1320 tells me a primary ignition fault exists. Btw she misses like crazy at idle. Here is what I have done thus far all new Hanshin coils and JECS injectors; both sets of which are nissan OEM. Plugs are NGK v-power BPR5e's. I pulled the harness out to check for a break in the circuit. Nope passed with flying colors. CKP (pos) sensor is new with Nissan silver dot fare as is the CMP (phase) cam sensor. the ref CKP sensor flywheel sensor is sending and getting signal from the ECM. Then it dawns on me the ignition condenser in the wiring loop may be shot, and here is where my problem lies; How to test the damn thing? I don't have an old analog meter anymore as it has long since bit the dust. So what kind of symptoms would one expect to see if the little black box on the loom is shot? I hate throwing money at a car hoping it will fix it but with 300k on the ticker the the coils being original and the injectors looking as though they have never been touched I made the decision to go ahead and replace em. Timing has been checked and I even went as far to pull the front cover to verify cams and cranks were dead spot on.

 

DVMs can check capacitors but it is a setting on the meter like volts or ohms or amps are. The DVMs that have a capacitor setting usually cost a little more. Maybe you know someone that has a meter with the capacitor function on it?

But don't know what kind of symptoms a bad coil capacitor would cause.
