Best Performance Upgrade for $1000

I'm looking to upgrade the performance and looking to spend anywhere from $100 - $1000 over the next year (I figure I can filter that much by my accounts payable department (the wife)). I don't want to knock off too much gas mileage. This is still my commuting car and I drive 64 total miles round trip (mostly highway). Please rank and estimate how much each costs. I have a 98 GXE 5spd.

Y Pipe, the best bolt on: (15-25HP) $190-400.

Cold Air intake: (6-9HP) $160-210 There is NOTHING like the sound of a CAI.

Those 2 combined are considered one of the best combo's.

Correction! I don't know where you buy FSTBs or RSBs.

FSTB is front Strut Tower Brace. It creates a stiffer front end like a box. Helps to improve handling in corners. Many claim it is one of the top mods!....as the guys here do!

RSB, RSTB, CAI,.....NOS many more for you!

you cleary buy a uterus and hook that up to your engine at least 100-200 HP at the wheels...
ps just plug the falopian tubes into the engine and BOOM youll have a 10 second car

Best upgrades.

I think Y-pipe, Cold Air intake and Jim Wolf ECU. That'll put you just over 1000 (1050-1100)....but man...those ECU's are fun.

Roadbeast...how many of those variable intakes do you have and what are the exact specs on them? Or are you just saying you can get one for 550 and you would ship it to us for $100?
