should I tune?

Tuning is completely foreign to me so bear with me haha. I have a CAI, cat back, and warpspeed Y pipe. Am I missing out on much by not tuning? Should I reflash instead? Its a 96 5sp SE.

Well im sure you could benefit from a tune, we all can. Depends on how deep your pockets are, the advantages imop arent worth the money. And let me just clarify, Im all for a tuning but for a N/A set up with basic bolt ons i cant justify it.

Okay awesome. Thank you. At what point does a tune become worthwhile? FI?

I will be posting a dyno-tune vid of my max on the 26th. It is a swapped 3.5 w/ basic bolt ons, intake, headers, full exhaust, and a greddy emanage. I will post up the whp and you can judge for yourself.

It becomes worthwhile when you deem it worthwhile. Are you trying to reach a certain amount of power or are you just looking for something to add to your mod list?

A proper tune (fuel AND timing) will unlock a good amount of power. However, expect to pay $700+ for the components and even more if you have to pay someone to do it all for you.

I'd say without question a tune is worthwile, but only after full bolt ons. You can free up quite a few ponies with more aggressive timing.

^ this. On a n/a Maxima application tuning is worth it after full bolt ons ie full exhaust and intake.

Greddy emanage I believe, but then again his car was running like **** with the 1st dyno.

I will be doing this exact dyno in 2 weeks. Untuned full bolt on then tuned w/ greddy emanage ultimate.

I don't think you noticed who's thread that is...

It's not an accurate comparison of no tune vs tune since the dip in first dyno was WORSE than no tune at all. Timing peaked at least ~30* on all runs. Not only that, but I also picked up ~5whp alone in the second dyno session going from a peak of 32* to 39*. Given that, I have a feeling that a tune is worth more than 10-15 whp, which is why I asked for the dynos. And I want to cut down on the BS numbers that people are spreading.

Oh I will get runfiles/video/ and printouts. I will post the dyno vids on here, and I will also post anything else that you gents would like to see. Trying to get a firm number of what a 3.5 max w/ full bolt on parts can do.
