will you buy another max??
will you buy another max??
i just wanted to know how many op like there current car enough to buy another one when they're ready for an upgrade?? i know i want a 5th gen 2001 anniversary white when i do, or maybe another blue one. or will you upgrade to a new car?? opinions, comments
Of course I will NOT buy another Maxima as long as they keep making those CVT thingys. I drive manual and manual cars is all I will buy, well unless I win the lottery and have the money to buy a GT-R. But as long as Nissan continues to make automatic cars this 6spd 6thgen will be my last
I always thought if i "upgrade" vehicles I'd like to say Ive owned a 300zx for a short amount of time. I don't think I'll ever get another Maxima again. Not because this car hasn't been great to me, but because the newer ones will just disappoint. Dream car is a WRX STI Hatchback.
Well I have had a 2000, 2002, and 2003, yeah I will buy another Maxima but will get a 99SE 4th gen SCed one, going forward in the Performance very Clean @ss car, will the owner let it go who knows, and its Silver also...
No, I am done with Nissan. I have to say 95 is a very good car, reliable and easy to work on. But the dealer was horrible and the Nissan corporation did not stand by the customers when complains were filed. A good thing out of the whole experience is that I now service the car my service; couldn't be happier.
most likely not i had a 00 and i have a 03 right now i dont liek cvts and idk if i really want a 6th gen manual. maybe a 8th gen if they give back the manual but i doubt it hope im wrong but id prob get a another honda like a s2000 or a 350z, g35 07 sedan manual
I would take another 4th gen only reason as some as stated, it is easy to work on. These newer gens have more computerized workings and cannot adjust things manually as you must have proper computers now to do everything. Too many sensors and dash lights for everything including slight air escaping tires....smh
My next car will be an 04 I35, just waiting for the right one at the right price (to be traded in at our dealership so I can get a good deal on it). I won't buy another maxima until my 95 isn't driveable. Probably won't buy anything other than a 4th gen, tho. Not a big fan of any of the other maximas except 3rd gens.
I love the 4th and 5th gens. I own one of each, but once they are both gone, I don't think I'll find myself in another Maxima again. I can't stand that CVT junk, and although I like the styling of the 7th gen...I'm a little worried as to what Nissan will come up with for the 8th gen. I'm pretty sure they'll just round it off even more, and slap another CVT in it with flappy paddles, and the same small brakes.
Have had my 2003 Maxima for 10+ years now. It's been pretty good, and I would have considered another Maxima if it were available with a manual transmission (like my '03), but it's not.
Last Monday I put a deposit down on an Infiniti G37 - one of the last few with a manual transmission. The G37 is being discontinued, and its replacement - the Q50 - will not be available with a manual.

I'll be lookin to buy tunermaxima3000's built g35 lol or a g35 6mt with HR engine or perhaps a g37 if I can afford it a few years into the future. I don't like spending money on depreciation I'd rather buy older and put that money into it so I can have fun
Of course I would...and I did!!! After I decided to total my baby (97' SE), I purchased a 98' GXE as a temporary car till I can find another 97' SE! (How I miss that car, and curse myself everyday about it!) Illinois is not the best place to find a 4th generation SE Maxima, so I have broaden my search and I am willing to travel if I can find a twin sister to my car.
No plans for another maxima for me. Over the last 9ish years with a 4th gen, I've learned quite a bit about cars in general and about myself. I've learned to take a car for what it is, whether sports cars, family sedan, truck, etc., and enjoy it. Not try to make it something it will never be. If I modify cars in the future, they will be with a focus on the original intention of the vehicle. Example, if I want a sports car, I'd buy a sports car and modify it with that in mind, power, handling, overall balance. If I wanted a family car to modify, I'd modify more for style than power, have it look good, rather than try to make it fast, when that isn't it's main purpose. Just my personal opinion currently.
The maxima is a great car, but I'm looking at a Toyota Tacoma next. I've realized a truck makes the most sense in my life next, moving to a rural area and becoming a homeowner who likes to work in the yard. A truck just makes sense. My wife drive's a Mazda3 HB and that feels more solid than my maxima ever has, granted it's a 2010 model. The next fun/project car for me will be a rwd sports car. Been looking at MGB GT's with a v6 conversion. Seems like a great balance of power/handling/fun. Time will tell.

That being said having had to take the transmission out already to have it rebuilt, I am very impressed with the design of the car (except tranny of course). Easy to work on, love the timing chain and coil on plug set up, and the climate controls have been great.
I'd definitely purchase another 4th gen for a family sedan, but I'd be extremely critical of the tranny before I purchased one again.
I would most likely buy another 1990's to low 2000's Maxima.
I've been in quite a few newer cars 2011 Scion XD and TC, 2011 Toyotas Camry, 2012 Mitsubishi Galant, and recently a 2012 Mazda 3. And when I switched back to my 4th gen I did not miss those new cars AT ALL.
The only thing my 97 does worse than those cars is that it does not handle bumps as well.
I hate the plastic fake leather-ish dash which looks pretty much all the same, I hate how the dashes of all those cars block most of the road and is too in your face. I know we don't exactly need to see whats right in front of the nose of the car but in that Mazda I felt a little suffocated.
Maybe I just love my Maxima too much.

LOL dude your parents ??? lol
i did get a good deal on a 2002 GLE with 97k on it i jumped on it like a dog on a bone. My 97 max was a really good work horse had for 6 years
One of my dream cars is the 79 Firebird Trans Am Anniversary Edition (Ttops, shaker hood, etc) I just love the look of it and the styling... They are incredibly hard to find and when you do find a shell in decent condition people ask ridiculous amount of money for it! The ones that are restored are also priced higher but that is a classic for you... One day one of these will sit in my drive way and be my garage queen
I am also dreaming big and I am drooling over the 2014 SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee with that 8speed transmission
.
I will keep my Max as long as I can and she will be my little toy for me to throw mods at her and my daily. I might pass it down to my little bro as a graduation gift as I am sure he will love it and get me something else. I really love the Max because its got *****, 4doors and it is fairly easy to fix and parts are cheap at the junk yards
I really want something with a V8 and RWD next time around thought...

my first was a 1990 SE auto, replaced that with a 96 SE M/T, and just bought another 96 GLE. Pushing 218,000 on the 96 SE and it just won't die. The GLE only has 108,000 on it. I should be able to get another 150,000 out of the two of them. Maybe in about 10 years I'll upgrade to an 02 or 03... ha!

o' and i'm only at 242,000 so it'll probably take awhile.

So I figure if I have my max for at least that long, I will upgrade to the 8th or 9th gen max when it's time to replace my 99SE
