I just got my FTSB today for my 99. So if I understand from previous posts, since its a Courtesy bar, I don't have to worry about the bracket, right?

I was going to wait to install it next week. My car needs an allignment and I thought it would be better to get that first before installation. What do you think?
|
I think it's your guys' cars that are different in not needing to cut the bracket. I bought my Courtesy 5th Gen FSTB from Sterling99SEL, who didn't like the fit, and he bought a Courtesy 4th Gen bar instead. He DID have to cut his bracket, but he sent me a picture of it and the bracket on his car looks different from yours and sits higher. It's like an inverted Y squished down onto the strut, and looks like it would almost certainly interfere with that FSTB, since the C-bracket on the Courtesy FSTB looks almost identical.
I'm guessing then that the bracket is one of those mid-production run changes manufacturers sometimes make. Mystery solved! :) |
cutting to fit a FSTB is def a first for me:confused:
|
I guess that's the difference between..
plain 99 and the 99 SEL

ok, I think it has to do with early & late 99 model, my early 99 model doesn't have the big bracket thing that late 99 models have. Take a look madd max's late 99 & my early 99

99 SEL
I have a 99 SEL with a courtesy FSTB. I had to cut. Very simple and made a dif in handling. If you cut.... paint the exposed metal so rust will not develop.

I think it probably has to do with production date?
and not purchased date? Who has the earlist production date for a 99? Mine was made in 12/98. I bought it 03/99.

Check the plate that's on the door jam when the driver door is open.
