i pulled a code 10 long,5 short pulses which from pmohr's guide is the egrc solenoid valve. what should i be checking first? will cleaning the egr tube have an effect on this code or will it be strictly the solenoid or valve? any help or tips is appreciated

 

Had the same problem. Replace the solenoid. Its the green thing with 3 hoses and 1 electrical connector. Its bolted on underneath the unit.

Also, search. This has been covered 100+ times.

 

i searched but i still had a question before i took the car back to the mechanic, i had 4 codes but now im down to one. so i wanted to know if the egr tube being blocked would create check engine light or if it would only be the solenoid or the valve itself causing it. thanks for your help though
