Question on illumination....?

I have the 97 non bose double-din head unit in my car. When i turn on the lights the to my car the readout on the screen(green led) does not go dim ,like the clock does. Is is supposed to go dim or stay bright all the time (like the clock during the day). I just bought the cd player from an .org member that had a 97 and i have a 96. Does that have anything to do with it?

If it is supposed to go dim then is there anyway i could tap into the clock wire(signal to go dim) and wire it into the head unit?

Thanks in advance
- Dhan

If the radio didn't come with an illumination wire, then it doesn't have that feature.

Do the 97 head units have a dim down feature at nite? as long as the radio has the adapter i think i can wire it from the clock dimmer.

I am basically trying to fine out if the radio dims at nite on a 97 head unit
