Need your quick opinion on clutch/motor mounts parts & labor cost

I don't have time right now, otherwise I'd do this stuff myself. This is on one of my NA Maximas

My local repair shop wants $780 ($400 labor, $380 parts) for parts and labor to install 3 out 4 bad motor mounts. Is the price reasonable, high, or am I getting raped? Note they are AAA approved so I'm sure the prices are higher than normal.

Shop replaced my clutch master cylinder about 6 months ago. I'm losing pressure/fluid again and now they say the line that comes of the master cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced. Parts and labor come to $360. Is the price reasonable, high, or am I getting raped?

If you guys say the clutch line is easy to do, I might have time this weekend to do it this weekend. Thoughts?

Regarding the motor mounts, are they a biatch to do? I imagine they would be.

Thanks fellas.

Replace the clutch line with a stainless steel direct line from master to slave. Only took me about an hour. Eliminate all of that intermediate plumbing. I got one on-line for about $40 from racetechperformance.com. Make sure you order the correct one - they have one that just replaces the lower flexible portion, and one that replaces both the flexible and hardline sections. Good luck.

If you can find time to replace the clutch line on the weekend, you can replace the motor mounts as well.

Thanks for the replies so far. I don't have a press nor the time right now to be dealing with motor mounts....

Bobflood, I looked into the 1 piece SS line and like what I see! Thanks for the suggestion.

What do you guys thing about using the NWP Engine Torque Link Brace as a temporary band aid for my worn out motor mounts? A) I don't really feel like dumping a lot of money into this particular Max and b)it will buy me some time until I have the time to the job on my own and save labor costs. Good idea?

I'm pretty sure your ride would feel a lot more worse than without the brace.

My motor mounts were fresh when I had the NWP Torque link and I still felt a slight vibration....in other words, dumped motor mounts + torque brace =

Hope that helps

You didnt mention these were poly mounts. I assumed OEM replacements. Although knowing your history with these cars I shouldve known better.
It might be better to get some used mounts and have someone press the inserts in. Then install them on the car yourself when you get some time.
As for the torque link...You'll want it anyways. Might as well use it.

Thanks for your input Boris and JNCoRacer, much appreciated.

I'm going a bit trying to figure out where the ES motor mounts go.

According to the shop that has my Max right now, and the trusty FSM, he says to imagine straddling the engine like a horse.

So...
passenger side fender is front of engine
drivers side fender is rear of engine
radiator side is left side
firewall side is right side

From my readings doing a search, I think people are calling the firewall side the rear and the radiator side the front... WTF!?!

So, to confirm, where do the two ES motor mounts go (according to the FSM) terminology?

ES Mounts go in the left and right, which are on the crossmember.

Anywhere, ebay, jegs, summit racing etc. Just google Maxima Energy Suspension motor isolators and a bunch of places will pop up
