that didn't answer my question. If I recall, the 300Z rims have a 45mm offset and people use those. The FAQ does not help in this case. I know some people must have tried this so I'm looking for their reply.

correct, its 17" x 7.5 I just want to hear from somebody who can say "yes, my rims have a 45mm offset" because its not cheap or easy to return rims when you already have tires for them and need to worry about shipping etc...

Yes, my rims are 18 x 7.5" with a 45mm offset & a 225/40/18 tire. They fit fine with no rubbing issues whatsoever. However, they looked too "tucked-in" so I got H&R spacers to push them out a bit and make them more flush with the fender. Nevertheless, they'll definitely fit.

I'm going to be getting 17x7 rims w/ 45mm offset of the 2002 Altima soon, and I'd like to just use the 215/55R17 all-seasons that will come with the rim, but I'm not sure if it'll have rubbing problems.
I've got a 95 SE w/ the stock 215/60R15 tires now. (DLR = 306mm).
If I use 215/55R17 tires, my new DLR = 323mm (might rub, not sure)
If I use 215/45R17 tires, my new DLR = 304mm (guaranteed no rub)
SO if you've got 225/40/18s, I might be able to make it with the 215/55R17 tires ... yes?

theblue - I have the H&R wheel spacers (F-15mm & R-20mm). I got them from options auto salon (www.optauto.com) & they are about $120 a pair. They are VERY nice quality and come with longer wheel studs which is a must if you use wheel spacers). I feel nothing strange with them on. They've been on my car for over a year so far and I've had ZERO problems.
sprint - I'm not running the wrong tire size per se. For a 18x7.5" rim, the widest tire that ALL tire manufacturers recommend is a 225/40/18. Anything wider, and the beads won't sit "properly" on the rim according them. However, a 235/40/18 will definitely fit onto a 18x7.5" rim (I know a lot of people have this setup with no problems, but I just went with what the tire manufacturers said). You can never be too cautious, but heck, even now I am contemplating of switching to a 235/40/18 for my next set of tires. I know that a 235/40/18 tire would be the closet match to my stock 215/55/16's outer diameter. However, my current 225/40/18 is not too far off. In fact, it a much better match than the 225/50/16's than some people run to replace their 215/55/16's.
pocketrocket - My Intrax are a 1.75" drop. Again, I have no problems, even at full lock. Whoa, I really dunno about running 215/55/17's. Your stock tires have a 639mm outer diameter. The 215/55/17's have a 668.3mm outer diameter. That's over an inch difference! It may very well have rubbing problems especially if your car is dropped...not to mention that your speedo will be off by a decent amount.

YES!!! thats the answer I was looking for! thanks for the answer. any pics you have would be great! do you have to use special lugs or did the stock ones work fine (I want to use these rims for autoX)

I think you'll need tuner lugs or whatever they're called. You should be able to get them from whomever you're ordering wheels from. Don't forget, you'll also need the hubcentric ring for each wheel though, but that's only $3/ring or so.

CalsonicSE, thanks for the reply.
I love your drop, based on pics from your website. I think you just discouraged me from getting H&Rs .... looks like I will save up & get GCs
Thanks for the tire info too, I'm going to be getting 215/45R17s ... the tire guy won't even let me try the 215/55R17 tires, he's worried something major will happen while I'm driving on the highway! Don't blame him I guess
