Anybody?

I had a 95 Maxima with a VLSD tranny. I would put it in gear and it would drive for a while then make a grinding noise and stop moving. Then if the car cooled off I could start it and drive around the corner then it would grind out and and not move again til it sat for a while. So convinced they transmission was bad I began parting the car out, because that's what I do. Anyway as I pulled apart the suspension I noticed the carrier bearing or axle bracket was broken off on passenger side. I wanted to notice if anyone has had a similar experience with an a32 or a33 with a broken c/b.

ive never had that, its my first A32 so far, But from your description it sounded like a axles was not seated all the way in the transmission like you discovered, had a 87 maxima that did the same thing except it was the driver side axle. had to keep getting out and pushing it back in when it came out

He is asking for help with his problem, not your opinion on what car is best.

OP, sorry, but I have never heard of this problem either.

I've never heard of anyone on here report a broken carrier bearing like that.
The grinding you heard was most likely a CV joint separating from the excess slack in the drive shaft, an easy repair. What puzzles me is that the VLSD should have put some power to the other drive wheel allowing the car to move. Who put that transmission in?
