Is $1,000.00 a fair price to pay to have a stock engine installed into a 96 Maxima? (Bronx/New York area)

I'm told an experienced Mechanic can have the old engine out, and the new one installed in around 7 - 8 hours.

All comments and info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

That includes the cost of the new (used?) engine and fluids, etc.?

No, I have already purchased the engine. And yes, the quote was for all fluids included.

I just located a guy who will do it for $500, but his shop is a bit far from my location.

I totally agree. I certainly have the time, but do not have the tools and a suitable place to do the swap. Unfortunately, I live smack dead in the middle of the city. (no driveway/garage) Thanks.

i DOUBT he can do it in 7-8 hours. Unless he does maxima's swaps so much he can do it blind folded in his sleep. Just a lot of wires and electrical parts, a/c, and how willing the exhaust will be unless he cuts the bolts etc that will chew up a lot of that time.

Its fair....assuming he has to remove the old engine then install the new one as well. I dont think anyone can have no engine out in 8 hours. Maybe 10 if he doesnt get distracted and has done it before. So 10 hours to remove and 10 hours to install. Those jokers usually get paid about $80/hr so 80*20 = $1600......yes $1000 is a good deal!

Haha I'm in queens aswell. It would be doable on a driveway. Try to find someone locally (org'er) who would charge you less and give you a chance to learn how to swap motors.

Take max fevers deal man. He's a cool dude

$1000 sounds good to me, but no way it's going to be done in 10 hours unless he has done tons of maxima engine swaps. so if he is quoting you a per hour price and just saying "it'll probably be like $1000" then i'd be wary.

8 hrs Is possiable to have the engine swap done and ready to Drive Its very simple.easiest way would be to take off fans and radiater and drop motor and tranny threw the bottom which that could take about 30mins ull spend more time unplugging everything.
And yes maxfever can do it for he tears apart máxima s on the daily basis.
