Transmission check engine code issue

So I was driving today over to my friends house and my check engine light came on. When I ran the code at auto zone it came back as knock sensor which has come up before and planned on replacing. However the other code came up as 2nd gear malfunction but when I was driving it didn't seem like it missed a shift or shifted hard considering I was going zero to 40 when it happened. I called my mechanic and ask them and they said it could need a trans flush which it hasn't had to my knowledge the car has a 129k on it and the prior owner was an old lady who I doubt did it . Anyone have any idea what it may be or think what can fix this issue haven't had a transmission come up before in check engine code.

From what I recall others saying on here, a Tranny FLUSH is a bad idea. I don't remember the reasoning behind this though. Just wanted to put this out there before you have your tranny flushed. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

On to your problem....what was the exact code that came up, as in, what were the numbers they gave you?

I would let it be for now, just erase it and see if it appears again, until than just drive it as you normally do

The code number that came off the code read was P0732 and that was for auto trans gear malfunction I am ordering the knock sensor tomorrow because I have been battling with it for almost a year now . And now after driving my other maxima that's my spare car same year with 120k more miles on it my temp sensor went out fml I am done for the night haha. Thank you for your guys feedback it helps a lot and why no tranny flush?

Your 129k tranny is holding important metal shavings keeping the tranny running. A flush will take those away and you will probably shorten the life of the tranny. If it was done every 50k like it was supposed to it wouldn't be a problem. You aren't sure if it has ever been done, so play it safe and keep it. As for the tranny code I'm not sure, check selonoids maybe?

In reference to the flush, here's what I found.

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ion-fluid.html

I remember seeing some other posts about it but can't remember exactly where or why. I have a MT and every thing I've seen about flushing has been related to AT so I never payed much attention to it. Member Trini Boom seems to know a lot about fluids if you want to pm him.

Edit: LTXMitch chimed in as I was typing with your answer

Also, dont know if you've seen this in reference to your code

A flush will feel new at first, but problems will arise quickly. Just do the "spill & fill"

You can get transmission codes if the oil in the trans is getting low, so check that out.
